George Smiley was a disgrace as a British spy back when the "Cold War" was the world's biggest threat. The mid 20th century found much of the free world in fear of those who chose to do harm to any who did not agree with their way of thinking. Soviet Russia was the biggest threat at the time and we used spies to investigate what they were up to constantly. They, in turn, also had their spies who kept a close eye on the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Based on a classic novel with the same title, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy tells a tale of intrigue and quiet desperation that depicts the spy among us who went about their business without fear for their own lives. Men like George Smiley (Gary Oldman from The Dark Knight, Air Force One), who comes out of retirement to find a "mole" who has infiltrated the Secret Intelligence Service and is a threat to all things right in the world. What ensues makes for an excellent story and even though slow in parts, is well worth viewing.
Starring Meryl Streep as the intrepid Margaret Thatcher, The Iron Lady proves to be one of the most likely Oscar contenders to come along in quite a while. Thatcher was a tough Prime Minister and that was good because she reigned in particularly tough times. And this film depicts how very remarkable she was, how ambitious she was, and how she succeeded in a world full of strong men.argaret Thatcher was the Conservative Party leader from 1975 up until 1990 and the United Kingdom's Prime Minister from 1979 up to 1990. She was considered to be a war monger as well as a destroyer of the economy during her time of service. But there was far more to the woman than just her professional side and that's what this film is focusing on, her incredible strength and ability to triumph over the heavy odds against her. Being a woman made everything she accomplished all the more amazing and her accomplishments will long be remembered in the political history of the UK. Thatcher now reportedly suffers from Alzheimer's disease. It is interesting that an American actress is portraying a powerful leader in the UK, but if anyone can succeed it is Meryl Streep (Kramer vs Kramer, Silkwood, Momma Mia!).
When Alastair Fothergill and his co-director Mark Linfield began the project that became Chimpanzee the movie over three years ago it was to document the life of these highly intelligent mammals and give the world a look into the lives of these highly social creatures. Filmed in the Ivory Coast as well as Uganda's tropical jungles, Chimpanzee will give us an inside view and better understanding of how they survive in a world that is constantly shrinking.hile Chimpanzee is considered a documentary turned movie it displays these extremely intelligent creatures as high functioning and very sociable with a family hierarchy not unlike humans themselves. This member of the great ape family is fascinating to watch as they interact with family members and make decisions that will affect their entire clan. Chimpanzee is a movie that is full of action and romance as well as the conflict brought on by overcrowding and jealousy. Sounds like a modern day film about someone we know? Perhaps

There are many psychological ailments that humans find themselves having difficulty with. Gambling, alcohol, drugs, and even sex can be problems for those who find them to be too much to overcome when they get out of hand and beyond their control. Now called Panem, the former United States of America makes many crucial decisions by way of an annual fight to the death. There will be two from each of the 12 districts so the total of 24 participants must fight each other to the death and the citizens find this required viewing on live television!hen 16 year old Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence from Medium, The Bill Engvall Show) volunteers to take her younger sisters place, she and Peeta Mellark, who is her counterpart find they are up against far bigger and stronger competitors who have been trained for this type of battle all of their lives.
