Though the author wrote his stories in the 19th century, murder is still murder and hunting down killers will never go out of style. Edgar Allen Poe's stories come to life when he joins up with Emmett Fields, a detective with the Baltimore police, to solve a murder involving a psychotic serial killer. The killer uses Poe's story ideas to perform a series of brutal murders. When the grizzly story winds up in the local newspapers Poe finds himself being questioned by local cops who wonder why a murderer is using the author's ideas to kill. When Fields discovers the murders mirror stories that have been showing up in the newspapers and are among a series of stories written by Poe, he is first suspicious of the writer but then finds another similar murder has happened even as the writer is held by police.ohn Cusack (Con Air, Pushing Tin) plays the part of Edgar Allen Poe in his last days, Police Inspector Emmett Fields is played by Luke Evans (The Three Musketeers, Immortals) who asks the famous Poe for his help in solving the murders and catching the killer before more are killed. Virginia Clemm-Poe is Poe's wife and played by Alice Eve (She's Out of My League, Sex and the City 2).
In an age where women are considered second class citizens and not allowed to hold jobs of any value, Albert Nobbs finds work as a butler in a posh Dublin hotel. Nobbs however just happens to be a woman who sees the opportunity to make a living even though it is discouraged in Ireland in the 19th century. This works fine until she falls for a handsome man and wants to escape from the lies she has lived with. Glenn Close first fell in love with the Albert Nobbs character and played the part back in 1982 in an off Broadway play. She purchased the rights and began working to make this highly entertaining film. ross dressing is something that has always been controversial and remains in use today even by mothers in Afghanistan who dress their young daughters up to appear like boys so they won't be harassed in public. Close loved the story idea of a middle aged woman turned man in order to be independent, thus proving the woman in Nobbs is actually the one who is strong and capable.lenn Close (The World According To Garp, Air Force One) is Albert Nobbs, Jonathan Rhys Meyers (From Paris With Love, Shelter) is Viscount Yarrell, and Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1) is Dr. Holloran.

The expression "everything old is new again" works well in movies. French film director Michel Hazanavicius had long fantasized he would make silent films. Movies made before the advent of "talkies" were considered to be of high quality because they were far more image driven than those using spoken words. Like black and white versus color film the crispness and attention to detail makes all the difference, producing higher quality without the distraction of color and flash.he Artist takes place between 1927 and 1931 in Hollywood. The silent cinema and subtitles is on the way out, being replaced with film that spoke to us in the audience. We no longer needed to pay attention to expressions on faces but could simply watch all the background action and appreciate the actor's fine voices. The voices also became problematic with some of the stars because they had unusually high voices or could not speak distinctly. Quite a few celebrities simply vanished from the scene once talking pictures became popular.tarring French actors Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo along with John Goodman as Al Zimmer, Penelope Ann Miller as Doris, and James Cromwell as Clifton."
Well before he died May 2, 1972 there were rumors floating around in high places speculating on the fact that Hoover was a closet homosexual as well as a cross dresser in private. Those facts may not show up much in this version of his life because director Cling Eastwood chose not to "quite go down that road". And perhaps he is correct because that would not have much of an impact on what the man did during his long tenure as director of the FBI. From March 22, 1935 when the Federal Bureau of Investigation came into being until the day he died in 1972 J. Edgar Hoover formed then ran that high powered agency with an iron fist. It was suggested he abused his powers by ostracizing certain individuals, even to the point of ruining their lives on a whim. However he had good reason in some cases to black list those who had committed crimes.tarring Leonardo DiCaprio (Titanic, This Boy's Life) as Hoover, Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as Clyde Tolson who was reported to be Hoover's lover and long time companion, Naomi Watts (2005's King Kong) is Helen Gandy, Hoover's personal secretary and the one who worked hard to destroy Hoover's own personal file after his death. Capably presented to us by Academy Award Winning Director Clint Eastwood.
We can only hope that real CIA agents have more important things to do than to compete over a woman, even if she is one of the most beautiful women on the planet. And if it means destroying some pretty important equipment along the way, well she'd better be worth it! With some truly spectacular highly technical gadgets to play with, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy play the two black ops agents who have worked so well together during past operations but find it impossible to get along once a woman (Reese Witherspoon) becomes the object of each mans affections. etween jumping from airplanes to deliberately jumping through windows, the two characters seem determined to out do each other and win her affections. This means their day job is put temporarily on the back burner but who cares? The romance must outweigh the danger and intrigue of fighting enemy nations, right? Chris Pine from Star Trek and Tom Hardy from Inception used to be best friends before Lauren (Reese Witherspoon from Walk the Line, Pleasantville) came between them. Now all the two can do is act like children who are fighting over a prize toy. They need to grow up or she won't be interested.

Played by Mark Ruffalo from Shutter Island, The Kids Are All Right) the Hulk is somewhat of a "loose cannon" making the other team members leery of his participation. Rounding out the dream team of Avengers is Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth from 2009's Star Trek and A Perfect Getaway) Norse's God of Thunder.
