With an all star cast showing up in a session of vignettes and directed by the master of romantic comedy, Garry Marshall, this film has to be successful! Marshall did a film similar to this one before called Valentine's Day. The similarities include a series of small movies within the movie depicting various stages of romantic involvements. A big cast filled with super stars and up and comers insure this movie will work, on any level. Who has not made a New Year's resolution that they eventually broke? When a group of former high school classmates and friends gather for a reunion they are hit by tragedy. One of them comes to a realization and the group gather then form a pact. The pact is actually one they've had before and now plan to resurrect, creating for themselves a new order in their world. This they plan to live, and die, by. A great cast, which is capably directed by Mark Pellington (The Mothman Prophecies, Arlington Road). Thomas Jane (Killshot, The Mist) is Richard, Rob Lowe (Parks and Recreation, Brothers & Sisters) is Jonathan, Laura is played by Carla Gugino (Californication, Entourage), and Randi is played by Arielle Kebbel (Brooklyn to Manhattan, Life Unexpected). ritics panned this film, calling it over worked and under acted but the cast proves they know exactly what they want and go after it in this fine film. There are many psychological ailments that humans find themselves having difficulty with. Gambling, alcohol, drugs, and even sex can be problems for those who find them to be too much to overcome when they get out of hand and beyond their control. Shame is about sexual addiction and the problems that ensue when the lack of control makes it difficult to control how and when. Called sexually raw, Shame depicts a character named Brandon as a man who has problems. Seems he masturbates compulsively and stalks victims he chooses in the subway system of New York. This 30 something otherwise normal young man has a social problem that he claims to have no control over but it will ruin him and his life if he can't get help. irector Steve McQueen (no not that McQueen) put together a brilliant story that is far more common than believed. Michael Fassbender (Inglorious Basterds, Murphy's Law) is Brandon, Carey Mulligan (The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard, Dr. Who) is Sissy who is actually Brandon's sister who reappears in his life uninvited, and David is played by James Badge Dale formerly seen on The Black Donnellys and the TV mini series The Pacific.

Some futuristic story ideas seem to paint a rather bleak picture of how life may be later on and The Hunger Games is right up there with the premise that we could hold lotteries each year to select competitors from youngsters. Seems that North America has become a divided country and now there is only the Capitol which is broken down into 12 districts. Now called Panem, the former United States of America makes many crucial decisions by way of an annual fight to the death. There will be two from each of the 12 districts so the total of 24 participants must fight each other to the death and the citizens find this required viewing on live television!hen 16 year old Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence from Medium, The Bill Engvall Show) volunteers to take her younger sisters place, she and Peeta Mellark, who is her counterpart find they are up against far bigger and stronger competitors who have been trained for this type of battle all of their lives. Peeta is played by Josh Hutcherson (RV, The Kids Are All Right). Look for Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, and Donald Sutherland also in The Hunger Games.
Though the author wrote his stories in the 19th century, murder is still murder and hunting down killers will never go out of style. Edgar Allen Poe's stories come to life when he joins up with Emmett Fields, a detective with the Baltimore police, to solve a murder involving a psychotic serial killer. The killer uses Poe's story ideas to perform a series of brutal murders. When the grizzly story winds up in the local newspapers Poe finds himself being questioned by local cops who wonder why a murderer is using the author's ideas to kill. When Fields discovers the murders mirror stories that have been showing up in the newspapers and are among a series of stories written by Poe, he is first suspicious of the writer but then finds another similar murder has happened even as the writer is held by police.ohn Cusack (Con Air, Pushing Tin) plays the part of Edgar Allen Poe in his last days, Police Inspector Emmett Fields is played by Luke Evans (The Three Musketeers, Immortals) who asks the famous Poe for his help in solving the murders and catching the killer before more are killed. Virginia Clemm-Poe is Poe's wife and played by Alice Eve (She's Out of My League, Sex and the City 2).
In an age where women are considered second class citizens and not allowed to hold jobs of any value, Albert Nobbs finds work as a butler in a posh Dublin hotel. Nobbs however just happens to be a woman who sees the opportunity to make a living even though it is discouraged in Ireland in the 19th century. This works fine until she falls for a handsome man and wants to escape from the lies she has lived with. Glenn Close first fell in love with the Albert Nobbs character and played the part back in 1982 in an off Broadway play. She purchased the rights and began working to make this highly entertaining film. ross dressing is something that has always been controversial and remains in use today even by mothers in Afghanistan who dress their young daughters up to appear like boys so they won't be harassed in public. Close loved the story idea of a middle aged woman turned man in order to be independent, thus proving the woman in Nobbs is actually the one who is strong and capable.lenn Close (The World According To Garp, Air Force One) is Albert Nobbs, Jonathan Rhys Meyers (From Paris With Love, Shelter) is Viscount Yarrell, and Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1) is Dr. Holloran.

The expression "everything old is new again" works well in movies. French film director Michel Hazanavicius had long fantasized he would make silent films. Movies made before the advent of "talkies" were considered to be of high quality because they were far more image driven than those using spoken words. Like black and white versus color film the crispness and attention to detail makes all the difference, producing higher quality without the distraction of color and flash.he Artist takes place between 1927 and 1931 in Hollywood. The silent cinema and subtitles is on the way out, being replaced with film that spoke to us in the audience. We no longer needed to pay attention to expressions on faces but could simply watch all the background action and appreciate the actor's fine voices. The voices also became problematic with some of the stars because they had unusually high voices or could not speak distinctly. Quite a few celebrities simply vanished from the scene once talking pictures became popular.tarring French actors Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo along with John Goodman as Al Zimmer, Penelope Ann Miller as Doris, and James Cromwell as Clifton."
