With an invasion from somewhere from outer space in progress, we humans find ourselves being taken over, one by one, by some form of alien beings. While they invade our planet and take over the minds of everyone they come into contact with a few manage to remain "wild and free". Melanie Stryder, played by Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, The Lovely Bones) attempts to hold out but succumbs to an alien named Wanderer. Wanderer has been warned about possession of human bodies and the consequences involved such as mood changes, vivid memories from that human's past life, and an entire gamut of emotions they have never experienced where they came from. "Geostorm" is a 2017 disaster movie directed by Dean Devlin and starring Gerard Butler. January Jones of "Madmen" fame plays Emma Frost, villainesse supreme, co-conspirator with Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, criminal mastermind. More notably, Jennifer Lawrence—yes that Jennifer Lawrence, low-keyed "It Girl" from Winter's Bone and the Oscars' red carpet—plays Mystique, aka Raven Darkholme, shape-shifting mutant. By film's end, girl power may trump super-powers.

Life on the forth planet from the sun, known as Mars, is adventurous to say the least. John Carter is an epic hero from novels written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, one of the most beloved and prolific writers of the 20th Century. This movie version has John Carter being transported to what is called Barsoom or Mars and entering conflicts between the planet's nations. There he encounters leaders Tars Tarkas as well as Princess Dejah Thoris as he attempts to save the people of Barsoom. Based on the novel titled A Princess of Mars, John Carter was first published as a serial in magazines back in 1912 before becoming a novel. The lead character, Carter, is a veteran of the Civil War in America and while on Mars he encounters huge green barbarians who are twelve feet tall with six limbs and long dangerous tusks. It is a world that is difficult to survive in and Carter must fight his way back home again if he can.aylor Kitsch of the TV series Friday Night Lights stars as John Carter, Willem Dafoe (Daybreakers, Spider-Man 3) is Tars Tarkas, and Princess Dejah Thoris is played by Lynn Collins (True Blood, Haunted).

The Maze Runner is a 2014 American dystopian science fiction film directed by Wes Ball. The movie is based on the popular young adult novel of the same name by James Dashner.
