This is a modern day version of the way politics is conducted with all of its good and bad sides given equal time, and the timing could not be better. he candidate is Democratic Presidential contender Mike Morris, portrayed by George Clooney (The Perfect Storm, The Men Who Stare at Goats) who is also writer and director of The Ides of March. yan Gosling (Crazy Stupid Love, All Good Things) is Stephen Myers, young and ambitious mastermind of the Morris campaign. aul Giamatti (Cinderella Man, Sideways) is the rival competition campaign manager, Tom Duffy.scar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman is Paul Zara, mentor and campaign manager to Presidential contender Mike Morris.his film provides an interesting and mostly realistic portrayal of insider politics when the real thing is fast approaching us.
Hunter S. Thompson wrote the book The Rum Diary back in 1961 when he knew very well what the demon rum was all about. Even the screenplay writer/director, Bruce Robinson was familiar with boozing being had sworn off alcohol over six years before but went back to it just to finish the screenplay that writer's block was keeping him from completing. That's dedication! ohnny Depp (Ed Wood, Donnie Brasco) is freelance journalist Paul Kemp, himself one of those lost souls he writes about. Determined to self destruct it's obvious this rag tag bunch of humanities leftovers just seem to drink their lives away. But Kemp falls for a woman that brightens up his days. Chenault is played by Amber Heard (Pineapple Express, Zombieland) and is Kemp's obsession as he drinks his days away in Puerto Rico.hat makes a movie about drunks and their ability to consume volumes of fermented sugarcane (rum) interesting? It's about the lost souls that seem to have given up on life and what they leave behind, like lovers, families, and life they're afraid to face. And Thompson's writing makes it all seem to work perhaps because The Rum Diary is about his life...
One thing those involved agreed upon was they did not want to simply remake a great spooky classic like 1982's The Thing by John Carpenter or even its predecessor The Thing From Another World from 1951. We don't need to remake classics like Jaws or The Exorcist and The Thing is another that is better off leaving intact as it was so perfectly done initially. But this is more a prequel and as such does not step on the original. This story involves the same characters but with a somewhat different timeline and plot because these are the same ones already dead when the original movie began. Now we learn their side of the rather spooky story about the wolf like apparition that consumes its prey then assumes their identity completely.tarring Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Live Free or Die Hard, Make it Happen) as Kate Lloyd, a paleontologist who joins up with the Norwegian team of scientists who happened to stumble upon an extraterrestrial space ship that's crash landed in Antarctica. The pilot, Carter, who is played by Joel Edgerton from Separation City, Smokin' Aces teams with the crew to stop the alien creature that assumes the form of anything it eats and then becomes them to fool humans and take over. This is what "could have happened" if the 1982 version took another path and one of the best non-remakes to come along in a while.
Exterior shots at Manhattan's Trump Tower highlight the theme of this well written and acted film and the stellar cast brings a story of revenge to life with humor and dedication. The plan is for these staff members of the high rise to rob the penthouse apartment of the man who stole their life savings and recoup some money and their pride too.tars include Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder, Night at the Museum) is Josh Kovacs, Eddie Murphy (48 Hrs, Daddy Day Care) is Slide, Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Brighton Beach Memoirs) is Jack Fitzhugh, Casey Affleck (Good Will Hunting, Chasing Amy) is Cole Howard, Alan Alda (Same Time Next Year, MASH) is Arthur Shaw, the man who considers the apartment staff as hourly and expendable.ow they get even with Shaw is entertaining because we all love getting even with those who only take but never give back. And it makes it seem even better than sending someone to prison. The Ponzi scheme was named after Charles Ponzi who made millions from fake investments he sold to the unsuspecting.

The latest thriller from Academy Award winning director, Steven Soderbergh is Contagion. With the assistance and advisement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention plus some scientific advisors on board the crew this is one scary premise that could almost actually happen with the right sets of circumstances. ritten by Scott Z Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum) and ably directed by Soderbergh (Traffic, Erin Brockovich) Contagion takes viewers to Hong King, the UK, Switzerland, Japan, Dubai, Minneapolis, Atlanta, and Chicago as the danger spreads, demonstrating how dangerous an outbreak of a deadly disease could actually be. A Roman hero, Coriolanus absolutely hated the people who revered him. His extreme views and inflexible beliefs incited riots and turned Ancient Rome into a bloody battleground. Even his mother, Volumnia, turned against him as politicians strove to outmaneuver and manipulate him into being more peaceful. One of the most violent periods in Roman history and with plenty of action and violence, this side of Shakespeare presents us with a viewpoint on how dangerous it was to live in Rome back then. Great location shots and plenty of fight scenes make this a fast paced film in which Shakespearian language dominates but is still easy to understand and follow.ctor Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 & 2) doubles as director and star of Coriolanus, is Caius Martius Coriolanus. Gerard Butler (Machine Gun Preacher, The Bounty Hunter) is Tullus Audfidius, Vanessa Redgrave (The Whistleblower, Letters to Juliet) portrays Volumnia, mother of Coriolanus, and Jessica Chastain (The Help, Take Shelter) is Virgilia, wife of Coriolanus. Watch for plenty of bloodshed and violence which was evidently what Ancient Rome was all about.
