Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 reunites viewers with Masha Dmitrichenko (Nicole Kidman), the enigmatic and dangerous wellness guru whose unconventional retreats promise transformation through carefully controlled doses of psychedelics and psychological pressure. Drawn from the world of Liane Moriarty's novel, the Hulu drama trades the sun-baked California of its first season for a striking new setting high in the snow-capped Austrian Alps.
This time Masha gathers a fresh group of wounded, secret-keeping guests at a remote mountain sanctuary, promising to change their lives in a matter of days. The ensemble brings in an array of new faces — Christoph Waltz, Mark Strong, Annie Murphy, Lena Olin, Murray Bartlett, Dolly de Leon and musician King Princess among them — each arriving with private grief that Masha intends to crack open, even as her own past and motives loom over the proceedings.
Premiering May 21, 2025, the second season leans further into the mystery and mysticism that made the original a talking point, wrapping its starry cast in gorgeous alpine vistas. Kidman's coolly unsettling performance anchors a story about whether real healing can come from a guru who treats her guests as experiments — and about how far people will go when they have run out of other options.
The Night Agent returns for its third season with Peter Sutherland deeper inside the machinery of American intelligence than he ever intended to be. Gabriel Basso reprises his role as the relentless FBI agent turned Night Action operative, now operating at the highest levels of a government that cannot decide whether he is its greatest asset or its most dangerous liability. Season 3 expands the show's globe-spanning scope with new allies, new threats, and conspiracies that reach into the very institutions Sutherland has sworn to protect. Creator Shawn Ryan continues to refine the series' formula of propulsive plotting, moral complexity, and the kind of tension that makes it physically impossible to watch just one episode.
Alien: Earth is the television expansion of one of cinema's most iconic science fiction franchises, set in the year 2120 as a spacecraft crashes on Earth carrying a deadly cargo that humanity is wholly unprepared to face. Sydney Chandler leads the ensemble as Wendy, a synthetic human grappling with questions of identity and survival as Xenomorphs are unleashed on the planet for the first time. Showrunner Noah Hawley brings his precise, novelistic approach to the material, grounding the franchise's cosmic horror in intimate human stakes while expanding the mythology in directions even longtime fans will not anticipate. The series delivers the dread, the darkness, and the visceral alien terror the franchise demands while finding entirely new ways to make the familiar terrifying again.
Grotesquerie is Ryan Murphy's most unsettling creation yet — a deeply disturbing crime thriller that blurs the boundary between faith and horror with relentless, escalating dread. Niecy Nash-Betts stars as Detective Lois Tryon, a veteran cop investigating a series of gruesome crime scenes that seem staged as grotesque religious tableaux. When a mysterious nun named Sister Megan, played with otherworldly intensity by Micaela Diamond, arrives claiming divine guidance, Lois finds herself drawn into a partnership that defies every rational instinct she possesses. As the cases grow more elaborate and personal, the series spirals into a meditation on belief, corruption, and the terrifying things people do in the name of something greater than themselves.
Dying for Sex is a bold, emotionally shattering limited series based on the true story of Molly, a woman who receives a terminal cancer diagnosis and decides to spend her remaining time pursuing sexual freedom and radical self-discovery. Michelle Williams delivers a performance of stunning vulnerability and fierce humor as Molly, joined by Jenny Slate as her unflinching best friend Nikki, who chronicles every adventure for a podcast that becomes an unlikely phenomenon. Created by Kim Rosenstock and adapted from the award-winning podcast, the series refuses to be a conventional illness narrative — it is a raucous, tender, deeply human exploration of desire, friendship, and what it means to truly live on your own terms before you run out of time.
Only Murders in the Building is a gleefully clever mystery comedy on Hulu set in the Arconia, a fictional luxury apartment building on New York City’s Upper West Side. Three unlikely neighbors — a faded true crime TV star, a failed Broadway director, and a guarded young artist — bond over their shared obsession with true crime podcasts and find themselves investigating a murder in their own building, which they document as a podcast of their own.
The chemistry between Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez is the show’s irresistible engine, combining the effortless comic timing of two legends with Gomez’s unexpectedly deft deadpan. The series layers genuine mystery plotting with warmly observed character work and an affectionate portrait of New York City’s apartment-building community, where strangers share walls for years without ever truly knowing each other.
Now in its fourth season, Only Murders in the Building has established itself as one of Hulu’s crown jewels, regularly attracting high-profile guest stars — including Cara Delevingne, Paul Rudd, Meryl Streep, and Eva Longoria — and maintaining the playful self-awareness that made it an instant hit. It is a rare series that has grown richer and more confident with each passing season.
Abbott Elementary is a warm-hearted, sharply written mockumentary comedy set in a chronically underfunded Philadelphia public school, following an idealistic second-grade teacher named Janine Teagues and her eccentric colleagues as they navigate the daily chaos of American public education. Created by and starring Quinta Brunson, the show became an instant cultural phenomenon upon its 2021 premiere, earning comparisons to the early seasons of The Office while carving out a deeply distinct identity of its own.
The ensemble — which includes Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and William Stanford Davis — works with near-perfect comic chemistry, generating both absurdist workplace humor and genuine emotional warmth. The show never condescends to its characters or their circumstances, treating the struggle to educate children in a broken system with equal parts comedy and deep respect.
Abbott Elementary has become one of broadcast television’s biggest critical and commercial hits in years, winning multiple Emmy Awards including Outstanding Comedy Series. Quinta Brunson’s Emmy win for Outstanding Writing made her only the third Black woman to win in that category, a milestone that resonated far beyond the television industry.
Those About to Die is a sweeping historical epic on Peacock that plunges viewers into the brutal spectacle of ancient Rome’s gladiatorial games, exploring the vast criminal, political, and sporting empire that surrounded the arena. Adapted from Daniel P. Mannix’s acclaimed book, the series follows an interconnected web of characters — from slaves and gladiators to emperors and crime lords — whose fates are all bound to the Colosseum’s bloody sands.
Executive produced by Roland Emmerich and starring Anthony Hopkins as Emperor Vespasian, Those About to Die deploys an enormous budget to recreate ancient Rome at a scale rarely attempted on television. The series refuses to sanitize the era’s cruelty, presenting the games as both entertainment and instrument of political control, drawing uncomfortable parallels to modern spectacle sports and media.
The ensemble cast features Iwan Rheon, Sara Martins, Jojo Macari, and Tom Hughes, each inhabiting distinct corners of Rome’s complex social hierarchy. With its intricate plotting, stunning production design, and willingness to examine power, corruption, and survival across every stratum of Roman society, the series represents one of Peacock’s most ambitious original productions.
Bodkin is a darkly comic mystery series on Netflix set in the fictional coastal village of Bodkin on the west coast of Ireland, where three strangers — an American true crime podcaster, his reluctant Irish researcher, and a mysterious woman with her own agenda — converge to investigate the decades-old disappearance of three people during a local festival. What begins as a quirky podcasting adventure quickly unravels into something far stranger and more dangerous.
Starring Will Forte, Siobhán Cullen, and Robyn Cara, the series expertly balances genuine menace with pitch-black comedy, finding absurd humor in the gap between true crime podcast conventions and the genuinely weird, often threatening reality of small-town Irish secrets. The performances are uniformly excellent, with Cullen in particular delivering a star-making turn as the sharp-tongued, deeply competent researcher stuck babysitting a hapless American.
Created by Jez Scharf, Bodkin earned strong reviews for its atmospheric sense of place, its unpredictable plotting, and its willingness to puncture the true crime genre’s self-seriousness while still delivering genuine thrills. It stands as one of Netflix’s most distinctive original series, with a voice entirely its own.
Elsbeth is a delightfully offbeat crime procedural on Paramount+ and CBS, spinning off from The Good Wife and The Good Fight to give fan-favorite attorney Elsbeth Tascioni her own starring vehicle. Carrie Preston reprises the role with infectious energy, playing a seemingly scatterbrained Chicago attorney relocated to New York City to provide oversight of the NYPD — while secretly being one of the sharpest minds in the room.
The show operates in the tradition of Columbo, presenting each episode’s crime and killer upfront, then watching Elsbeth methodically unravel the truth through a combination of genuine brilliance and disarming eccentricity. Her suspects perpetually underestimate her, making each reveal all the more satisfying as her warm, wide-eyed persona gives way to razor-sharp deduction.
Elsbeth has attracted a parade of acclaimed guest stars — including Cynthia Nixon, Wendell Pierce, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson — each playing the killer in a self-contained story. The series has become one of CBS’s most beloved procedurals, earning Carrie Preston a well-deserved Emmy nomination and a passionate fan following hungry for each new mystery.
Bad Monkey is a sun-soaked crime comedy series on Apple TV+ adapted from Carl Hiaasen’s beloved novel of the same name, starring Vince Vaughn as Andrew Yancy, a disgraced Florida Keys detective demoted to restaurant inspector after a spectacularly ill-advised incident involving a riding lawnmower. When a severed arm is discovered by tourists on a fishing trip, Yancy sees a chance to reclaim his badge — and stumbles into a conspiracy reaching all the way to the Bahamas.
The series perfectly captures Hiaasen’s signature brand of darkly comic, sun-baked Florida mayhem, with a vibrant cast of eccentric characters, each hiding their own secrets beneath the Keys’ turquoise waters and cheerful exteriors. Vaughn brings unexpected warmth and comedic timing to Yancy, turning what could have been a one-note detective into a fully realized, deeply lovable mess of a man.
With its gorgeous location photography, sharp writing, and an ensemble that includes Natalie Martinez, Jodie Turner-Smith, and a scene-stealing monkey named Driggs, Bad Monkey delivered one of Apple TV+’s most purely entertaining seasons, balancing genuine laughs with surprising emotional depth.
