Star Trek into Darkness is the twelfth film in the Star Trek franchise, and the second one in the contemporary saga of Star Trek directed by J.J. Abrams. The movie plot follows the story that has begun in 2009's Star Trek. Crew of the Enterprise makes its journey back home after the series of epic events that has been taken place in the first movie. When Captain Kirk and his team approach the Earth they see unspeakable destruction made by the invaders of internal origin. The Starfleet is under a violent attack and the real purpose of the attackers' interests is unknown. Star Trek into Darkness is shot as a 2D movie, and then converted to 3D format. The film also features 9 minutes of the high-end action scenes that were shot by IMAX cameras. As for ensemble cast – in 2013's Star Trek into Darkness we enjoy the play of all the actors of previous Star Trek, excluding the villain roles, of course. The leading antagonistic role of Khan, was taken by Benedict Cumberbatch who may be known to you by his roles in The Hobbit saga of 2012-2014 as Necromancer and, what is more remarkably as Sherlock Holmes in the extremely popular British television series of the same name. As for Enterprise crew we see familiar faces: Chris Pine (Rise of the Guardians, People Like Us, This Means War) as James T. The huge budget mostly dictated by enchanting ensemble of the cast and incredible 3D which is reported to be much more sophisticated than everything you could watch before. In case of Man of Steel it's a venture without a risk: as the Superman is known to almost everyone on Earth, and there are three major target audiences that eager to watch it. First of all, it's new generation that heard of Superman a lot, and watched numerous TV series and spoofs. The second, there is the generation that remembers Ilya Salkind's Superman. And third one is the oldest audience, who have read DC comics itself and bring their children (second generation audience) to the cinema to show them first Superman movie. So we have there a winning marketing strategy combined with most advanced CGI as it is at 2013. What about the actors? Henry Cavill as Superman looks very hot, while his parents realistically depicted by Kevin Costner and Diane Lane (Jonathan and Martha Kent – Superman's Earthborn foster parents), Jor-El (a Superman's real father from Krypton) is portrayed by Russell Crowe. The epitome of the do-or-die female reporter, Lois Lane is played by Amy Adams, who may be familiar to you as Anna Brady form Leap Year and Charlene Fleming from The Fighter.

Hughes brothers exploit a very specific niche of "commercial cinema for nerds" filmed The Book of Eli, a western about the Second Coming. You haven't even know that Eli is the God in Aramaic, and generally have at least a minimal understanding of sacred texts. Simplicity and clarity of massage of the movie makes us expecting some more complex content. Especially because the atmosphere and style of the film is beyond any praises. They succeeded to create really juicy and truthful post-apocalyptic world, which filled with the atmosphere of despair, echoing, resonating basses and shot with the cold spectrum filters. A character of Washington is so cool in his calm relaxed state that somehow you really begin to believe that good actually has fists.

Jason Statham stars as Arthur Bishop, "mechanic" supreme. Of course, "mechanic" is bad-guy talk for the professional assassin who comes to fix your problem and generally tune-up your operation by striking terror into the hearts of your bad-guy rivals. The Mechanic, then, implies that in a world full of amateurish shooters, Arthur Bishop stands out as the consummate professional. In fact, Bishop lives and works by a strict code—precise, detached, professional, and perfectionist; in other words, Bishop delivers all the qualities anyone could wish or want in a fine mechanic."Donald Sutherland plays Harry, Bishop's friend and mentor; and then he dies. Assassinated. Not surprisingly, Bishop feels compelled and honor bound to avenge Harry's murder; but in all of his careful calculations, Bishop fails to factor-in Steve, Harry's son, who shares Bishop's desire for revenge and who brings beginner's enthusiasm to the business of learning his father's business. Of course, sinister stealth, insidious machinations, and high explosives complicate the would-be assassins' quest; and, as the promos proclaim, "those hired to fix problems become problems themselves." The Mechanic would qualify for your list of "standard guy stuff," except that it has a liberal dose of heart.

He becomes part of an inter-galactic super-squadron charged to protect and serve the universe. Of course, hard-rockin' soundtrack and jaw-droppingly attractive women, both good and evil, accompany him wherever he goes. "After summer's spate of cartoon movies, literate viewers may wax nostalgic for Hemingway in collaboration with Bogart and Steinbeck inspiring Henry Fonda.
