In the year of 1939, the King and Queen of United Kingdom, George VI and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon are visiting New York to seek the help from America in a forthcoming War with Germany. The success of their voyage is totally dependent on negotiation with the President of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt who has invited the Royals to his residence - Hyde Park on Hudson. Meanwhile, FDR himself is experiencing hard times with domestic policy and low ratings of trust. The situation is even getting worse when Margaret Suckley, a Roosevelt's mistress and distant cousin joins him alongside with his wife and children to ensure the pleasant stay of royal couple during the weekend. This crucial parley is going to turn out to be the fateful pivot point both of the world history and FDR and Margaret relationships. Few people know ins and outs of this historical meeting and Roger Michell's movie, Hyde Park on Hudson, unfolds the truth about it. It showcases lots of funny moments (just imagine facial expression of Royals, when Margaret announces hot dogs as main dish of the lunch), misapprehensions at the edge of fouls and lots of other objectionable situations FDR and Margaret masterly get out from. The right chemistry between the perfectly selected actors and actress make this movie definitely delicious and easy to watch. Franklin D. Roosevelt is portrayed by Bill Murray. Laura Linney plays Margaret Suckley while Olivia Williams plays Eleanor Roosevelt, FRD's wife. The Royal couple is played by Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth and Samuel West as King George VI.

Inspired by California's Parent Trigger law in 2010, a Daniel Barnz's movie Won't Back Down is telling a story about two mothers, who are adamant in their decision to change things in downgrading school of their city. Their strong will and resoluteness to override the sequence of mediocre performance reports issued by the school year after year leads them to fierce battle with corruption and indolence prevailing behind the school officers and government officials. Two mothers, a bartender (Maggie Gyllenhaal) and a teacher Nona Alberts (Viola Davis) maybe belonging two different backgrounds, but they are very eager to fight the bureaucracy personalized in Principal Thompson and Teacher's Union President (portrayed by Holly Hunter, Grace Hanadarko from Saving Grace TV series). It seems like the mothers are going to lose everything in this unequal combat, however their good will to change things for better will bring them victory and safe education for their children, which deserve the best future.

The idea of The Master, which was filmed and released in 2012, could be traced back in 2000, when, as it was reported that Paul Thomas Anderson had the plans to create the movie about The Church of Scientology. However, the issues with the financing have blocked the implementation of conception until The Weinstein Company alongside with Megan Ellison, daughter of billionaire Larry Ellison (co-owner of Oracle Corporation), secured the financing of The Master in full. Likewise it has been some rumors that the movie was stalled because of too much of truth about The Church of Scientology has been revealed by Paul Thomas Anderson when he showcased The Cause sect (which was definitely prototyped from The Church of Scientology) in his movie. And because Hollywood has lots of influential and high-powered scientologists in his womb they have, allegedly, throw sand in the wheels of The Master filming and financing. In spite of the fact that The Church of Scientology Officials have rejected these rumors to be true and repeatedly insisted on their indifference concerning this movie, we have lots of doubts about it. The movie rather colorfully describes the sect and its leader Lancaster Dodd, whose personality was clearly copied from Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard and very plausible displayed by talented performance of Philip Seymour Hoffman. You may be familiar with him by the roles in Moneyball, where he played Art Howe and in The Ides of March (Paul Zara). Dodd's apprentice, Freddie Sutton, who has climbed to the top of "The Cause" hierarchy suddenly starts to doubt about his teacher's belief, more and more being convinced the all he has to believe to is nothing more than fruits of his teacher's sick fantasies.

Hachi: A Dog's Story looks very respectable thanks to beautifully grown old Richard Gere. But all this is the perfect atmosphere generates the feeling that all this neat, distilled and smoothed microcosm of the American province was specially built just for the beautiful story design. Something here is not real in the movie. However, when your eyes filled with tears, you will not be able to consider.

This intriguing movie is based on factual events that occurred in a post war Bosnia in which any thing goes. Rachel Weisz (The Lovely Bones, The Brothers Bloom) stars as Kathryn Bolkovac, an American officer of the law who decides to help out by becoming a peacemaker in a war torn Bosnia. What she discovers is a underground world of corruption and a blossoming sex trade involving children and adults. Live humans are valuable and are sold to the highest bidders. Plenty of intrigue, corruption, and diplomatic cover-ups linked to the UN and also some (U.S. military) contractors. Bolkovac is put to the ultimate test as she tries to help in the rebuilding of this devastated area and comes up with far bigger problems than she could have imagined. Caroline and Jackie, directed by Adam Christian Clark showcases us a horrific scenario of one-evening dinner with unexpected quests. The movie centers on two sisters, Caroline and Jackie who seems to be the lovely siblings, but from the very first minute we are to understand that something is wrong with their relationships. First of all, Caroline unexpectedly visits Jackie at her home and invites sister and her friends to the restaurant party despite the fact that Jackie was cooking al the day to have a great dinner with her friends. As Jackie agrees to accept Caroline's invitation she learns that this improvised surprise party was arranged by Caroline to celebrate Jackie's birthday, which passed two months ago. A ridiculous dinner turns to totally boring nightmare as quests gradually immerse into sisters uneasy relations hearing Caroline jibes addressed to Jackie As everybody feels that dinner is broken they finish the dishes hastily and moves to Jackie's house. However, if you suppose that Caroline is the "bad guy" in among the siblings, it means that you dramatically underestimate Jackie's nature. And this is not the end, as the action unfolds it becomes absolutely clear that their friends, both Caroline's and Jackie's are complete ass-holes as well. It's hard to say why Adam Christian Clark so carefully and accurately filmed such a bunch of deranged characters, but nevertheless he made it masterfully.
