Niels Arden Oplev, who may be familiar to you by his movie The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo comes with his next keep-on-toes drama Dead Man Down. It's not a surprise, that his favorite Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, who played the leading role in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, as Lisbeth Salander took the same level role in Dead Man Down. In this movie she plays Beatrice, a desperate, yet prudent and coldblooded woman on the warpath to accomplish the revenge by killing Alphonse Hoyt (Terrence Howard), a mob boss of the New York. On her way she meets Alphonse's guard, Victor (Colin Farrell), who seems to share her thoughts about the boss. She tries to blackmail and use him, but later, the truth reveals, Victor claims that Alphonse is responsible for the death of his wife and daughter. The engrossing desire for revenge unites Beatrice and Victor. Meanwhile, it becomes clear that there are other strong feelings between them, the feelings that have grown in the shadow of vengeance.

The original fairy tale story titled Little Red Riding Hood was a cautionary tale filled with darkness and scary wolves but seemed mild compared to this up-dated version. Produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and with a stellar cast including: Amanda Seyfried (Big Love, Mama Mia), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight, Planet 51), Julie Christie (Glorious 39, Finding Neverland) and Billy Burke (Twilight, Fringe). Valerie is our Red Riding Hood who lives in a medieval village where a werewolf stalks its prey. She falls in love with a woodcutter who is beneath her as far as her parents are concerned. They had planned on her marrying into wealth and comfort with Henry (Max Irons) but she defies them. "When Valerie's sister is killed by the werewolf the town asks a famous "werewolf hunter" (Oldman) in to destroy the monster they've feared for decades. How can this beast be found when it takes on human form in daylight and could be among them at any time? Now the death toll will rise with each passing full moon."

Upon her return from college Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan has a new and much more open mindedness to her philosophy in life. She wants to be a writer and takes on the task of getting the local black women, long considered the hired help in their Deep South area, to open up and talk of their lives and ambitions. This is a bad time and worse part of the country to attempt this but Skeeter is determined. At first the black women refuse to speak but then one and another speak up. A romantic comedy with some serious implications is what the Big Miracle is all about and who doesn't want to see the planet's species all survive? Whales have been getting poor treatment for centuries now and with many species down to but a few, they may soon be gone for good. Enter the government worker and a non profit aid worker that are determined to help however they can. Then add romance and a bit of comedy and you have a great movie! They find three huge California gray whales that have traveled up to the Arctic Circle and become trapped when ice closed in on them, leaving them in a hole with no escape. ilmed over a ten week period in Anchorage, Alaska the story is based on a book by Tom Rose titled Freeing the Whales: How the Media Created the World's Greatest Non-Event. tars Drew Barrymore (Boys on the Side, The Wedding Singer) as Rachel Kramer and John Krasinski (It's Complicated, Leatherheads) is Adam Carlson are the determined pair who try to save the whales. Others in this entertaining and fun film include Ted Danson, Stephen Root, Kathy Baker, and Kristen Bell.

It's a Christmas time of 2004. An ordinary British family Henry (Ewan McGregor) and Maria (Naomi Watts) visits Thailand on vacations with their three children: Lucas, who is just turned 7, and his younger brothers Simon and Thomas (children are played by Tom Holland, Oaklee Pendergastand and Samuel Joslin, accordingly). As they reach the Thai hotel, their family suit is upgraded to villa, a horrible decision, as it turns after. They are exchanging some Christmas gifts and heading to the coastline the morning after. Nothing has presaged a catastrophe. But meanwhile the terrible roar is heard from the seaside, and, in the moment, a giant wave of Tsunami covers the shoreline with all the tourists on it, including Henry, Maria and their beloved children. The wave is crashing trees, houses, cars, throwing human bodies to right and left. In a few seconds it appears that Henry, Simon and Thomas were picked up by the strong current and wiped to the inner part of land while Maria and Lucas are struggling for their survive in the roaring waves full of fallen tries which strike them inflicting terrible wounds, and making "the happy end" for them almost impossible. The movie, filmed by Juan Antonio Bayona, an outstanding Spanish director and producer, keeps us on the toes these first 20 minutes. The super-realistic 3D sound of imminent Tsunami is awesome, the pictures of scorched post-Tsunami landscape are phenomenally affecting, and the rest of the story based on true life events is very touchable and tragic.
