Little Miss Sunshine

Description

Little Miss Sunshine is a 2006 comedy-drama film about the Hoover family, who travel from Albuquerque to California to attend a beauty pageant in which the youngest member of the family, Olive, hopes to compete. The film, directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris and written by Michael Arndt, features an ensemble cast, including Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, Steve Carell, Paul Dano, Abigail Breslin, and Alan Arkin.

The plot follows the Hoovers, a dysfunctional family with individual issues and conflicts, as they embark on a road trip to California. Richard, Olive's father, is a motivational speaker and a failed businessman. Sheryl, Olive's mother, struggles to hold the family together and balance her job and marriage. Dwayne, Olive's older brother, has taken a vow of silence and dreams of joining the Air Force. Grandpa Edwin is a heroin addict and a vulgar and eccentric old man, while Uncle Frank is gay and recovering from a suicide attempt. Throughout their journey, the family encounters a series of obstacles, including the breakdown of their VW van and the revelation that Olive's chosen talent for the pageant is a risqué dance routine.

Little Miss Sunshine premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006 and received critical acclaim for its screenplay, direction, and performances. The film won two Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actor for Alan Arkin's portrayal of Grandpa Edwin. Little Miss Sunshine has been recognized as a significant contribution to independent cinema and a portrayal of the American Dream as an unattainable goal. The film's themes of family, perseverance, and individuality continue to resonate with audiences today.

An amusingly ridiculous black comedy "Seven Psychopaths" is a McDonagh's next masterpiece created in a black comedy genre. It tells the story about an author, Marty who is out of inspiration to finish his novel "Seven Psychopaths". Marty is played by an Irish actor, Collin Farrell who may be known to you by his roles in Minority Report (2002), In Bruges (2008) and Total Recall (2012). His friend Billy tries his best to help Marty to finish writing the book "inspiring" him by getting into the troubles, constantly. Billy is portrayed by Sam Rockwell, who is known to you as Sam Bell from Moon (2009) and Kenneth Waters from Conviction (both are serious roles in the serious films with lots of awards and nominations). Billy is a pure criminal with sadistic attitudes, but he is lovely one. Besides his kind heart, he has a crime-partner Hans. This next psychopath is played by Christopher Walken. This great American actor needs no introduction – you know his awesome roles in Kill the Irishman (2012), Hairspray (2007) and Man of the Year (2006). The next psychopath is Charlie (portrayed by Woodrow Tracy "Woody" Harrelson: No Country for Old Men, The Messenger, Defendor, Zombieland). His beloved dog, a rare Shih Tzu was kidnapped by Billy and Hans, and all the movie's action unfolds in this pivotal point. There we meet Angela, played by the "Bond Girl" Olga Kurylenko, Kaya (Abbie Cornish) and Zachariah (Tom Waits) – the last two of the "Seven Psychopaths".
Zookeeper

Zookeeper

Zookeeper immediately deserves nomination for the "Cute" Hall of Fame. Or "precious" or "adorable" or one of those ever so warm and friendly adjectives that describe both people and animals you just want to hug with all your might. You must understand that the animals star in Zookeeper, and the people are the supporting cast. Naturally teddy-bearish Kevin James stars as Griffin Keyes, long-time zookeeper who doesn't get out much. More at home with his critters than members of his own species, the zookeeper bravely resolves to leave the zoo and venture out into the bigger world, where he hopes, naturally enough, he can get a life and get a girl. When the animals ferret-out Griffin's plan, they feel so desperately heart-broken they elect to break their "code of silence," revealing not only that they can talk but also that they have quite a bit to say on questions of love, romance, and mating. Rosario Dawson plays Kate, "the girl." The animals, of course, conspire to help their boy win the girl and to keep their happy family together. Seriously, how cute is that!"Zookeeper features an exceptionally high-powered collection of voice talents: Adam Sandler plays a Capuchin monkey, Cher appropriately plays a lioness opposite Sylvester Stallone's lion, Billy Crystal plays a llama, and the venerable Don Rickles gives us his very best frog. And that's just the headliners. Zookeeper also has the strange distinction of going into the film history books as the last movie MGM studios wrapped before it went into bankruptcy. That part isn't cute—just quirky.
