Humorous yet gruesome, Warm Bodies is the title of Jonathan Levine's next movie, the title that works on the many levels; all of them are perfectly describing the idea of the film that loosely based on Isaac Marion debut novel of the same name. The story of filmed in 2013 Warm Bodies begins in the post-apocalyptical world where hordes of zombies are in the charge, ruling the Earth, while people are hiding in sporting domes, usually main city stadiums. Such stadiums remain the last refugee camps in the centers of most of the big cities of the destroyed world. Fortified in the manner medieval castles these domed structures hold the small concentrated groups of survivors keeping an endless defense against zombies. The movie follows the zombie named R, who is able to think and empathize: when he eats another portion of human brains it takes him high filling R with emotions and life experience of the victim. The irreversible changes begin when kills a suicidal teenager and eats out his brains. In the moment he immerses in the center of unrequited love of the victim to some girl named Julie. When R's congeners approach to kill the rest of the teenagers, R in the burst of emotions decides to save Julie's life, taking her out of the massacre. This step ignites developing relationship between R and Julie, resulting in the world-change consequence of events.

Stories about mysterious telekinetic abilities were extremely popular in 70s. That's way Steven King's book Carrie was adopted as movie just in 2 years after the novel was written. In 2013 Carrie returns on big screens thanks to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Screen Gems - both invested around 75 millions USD in this reincarnation of the film. Now Carrie features lots of stunning CGI effects that makes telekinetic tricks much more spectacular than 70's adaptation. What makes this movie special besides awesome explosions and incredibly realistic bloodbaths? Chloe's only friend Sue Snell (persuasively depicted by gorgeous Gabriella Wilde) decides to help Chloe to override her lone status by asking a local dreamboat, Tommy Ross (Sue's boyfriend, by the way) to invite Carrie to prom. Unfortunate prank turns out to be a catastrophic disaster for all those present at prom and for the entire town when Carrie unleashes her powers in devastating act of desperation.

The" found footage" genre was used almost to death in the period of 2005-2012. However, Scott Derrickson's Sinister is something bigger than regular "found footage scary movie". In Sinister, where Derrickson's talent is multiplied on Ethan Hawke's play, the old fashion draggy movie blossoms with new fruitful flowers conceiving the new levels of horror film's quality. The story begins, when the main protagonist, Ellison finds a footage which was made a long time ago by the previous inhabitants of his new house. As the professional writer, specializing on the scandalous crime stories, he begins his own investigation with the help of local deputy sheriff (James Ransone, who may be familiar to you as Officer Thomas Prudenti in The Son of No One). As they excavate new facts and stories about this mysterious murder they find similar cases where entire families was killed besides the little girls which are still missing. Step by step Ellison immerses deep into the horror of these mysterious deaths becoming increasingly unsettled mentally, as the rest of his family show the sings of serious emotional distress. His wife Tracy (Juliet Rylance, who played in Adam Shaw) and 12-year-old Trevor (Michael Hall D'Addario who played in People Like Us) hear strange frightening voices that are coming out from the attic where the scary footage was found.

After it wrapped in November, 2009, Season of the Witch, an old-school horror movie starring Nicholas Cage and Ron Perlman, went into a strange suspended animation. In November, 2010, the studio finally distributed a trailer with very little fanfare, and setting a release date in mid-January, 2011. The Fourth Kind's storyline is based on pseudo-real recorded on the home camera by the psychoanalyst during his private practice. This archival video is the basic structural core of the movie, and the plot overlays it. It's quite an unusual approach, both components are so deftly and seamlessly woven together, that it produces a very bright effect. Olatunde Osunsanmi blurs the line between fiction and reality step by step and makes it so efficient that the atmosphere of shock, horror, mind clouding and painful dreaming completely fill the mind.
