Transcendence is a serious science fiction film which explores questions of mortality, technological overreach, and responsibility. Johnny Depp plays Dr. Will Caster, a dying A.I. researcher, who transfers his emotions and personality to an A.I. interface with the help of his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall). This experiment bestows near-omnipotent power on The Will Caster A.I., but as one might expect with any person who has died and been resurrected, Dr. Caster is no longer quite the same man. As Dr. Caster's quest for knowledge morphs into a quest for power, it dawns on his fellow researchers that they may be helpless to stop him. While Transcendence received mixed reviews, the film's distinctive visuals were widely praised, as well as its willingness to confront major questions of our time.

Armageddon is a 1998 American science fiction disaster film directed by Michael Bay. The movie follows a group of deep-core drillers who are recruited by NASA to stop a giant asteroid from colliding with Earth and causing a global catastrophe. The team, led by Harry Stamper, must travel to the asteroid, drill a hole in its surface, and detonate a nuclear bomb to split it in two.

Dune is a science fiction film released in 2021, directed by Denis Villeneuve. The movie is based on the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert and follows the story of Paul Atreides, a young nobleman who becomes embroiled in a power struggle over the planet Arrakis, which is the only known source of a valuable substance called "spice."

With intentions of this one being a launching pad for an entirely new series of films on the "great apes taking over the planet" theory, director Rupert Wyatt along with producer and screen writer Rick Jaffa hope to see fans follow along to make this concept as big a hit.Sci-fi films with an unusual theme such as this can usually count on plenty of audience enthusiasm and as this one deals with attempting a cure for Alzheimer's it is current and relevant to what's going on around us. James Franco (Pineapple Express, 127 Hours) plays a scientist who uses apes to attempt finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease and when problems arise with one of his apes called Caesar, he simply takes the ape home with him to keep the evil lab doctors from interfering. Seems as if Caesar (played by Andy Serkis from the Lord of the Rings trilogy) has begun mutating quite rapidly and that's never a good sign as he'll soon begin leading a revolt of the apes."Also starring John Lithgow (of the Shrek series and Harry and the Hendersons), Chelah Horsdal (Marley & Me), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) and David Hewlett (The whistleblower, Stargate: Atlantis)."

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you travel back in time and kill your grandmother before she will give you the birth? Right, you will never be born. That means you will never travel back in time and never will kill you grandmother. That's called "Time Paradox" or "Grandfather Paradox". There are lots of theories explicating why the paradox can be avoided. By the way there is quite exotic one: "Can-Not Because Has-Not" that presumes that no one has invented the time machine in the future, because if it'll happen we have had already knew this due to existence of arriving time travelers from the future. But how it is connected with Looper, the movie filmed by Rian Johnson in 2012? The answer is: very straight. In not-so-near future, in the year 2042, a mob hitman makes money by successfully assassinating human targets arriving from more distant future. Everything goes smoothly before he receives the new target: himself arriving from 2072… Now you understand why we had to begin with "Time Paradox". However, such a twisted storyline is only one crucial driving force of Looper. The brilliant cast is the second. A mob killer, Joe, is portrayed by two actors, and each of them is a big name in Hollywood scoreboard. The younger version of Joe is represented by Joseph Gordon-Levitt while the older one is played by Bruce Willis. Chappie (stylized CHAPPiE) is a science fiction film directed by Neil Blomkamp, based on the director's own 2004 short film, Tetra Vaal. Set in the near future, Chappie features a world which is policed by mechanized robots. The robots are oppressive toward humanity, but do not have the ability to think and feel. Chappie is a robot designed with artificial intelligence. Chappie can feel emotions and think for himself, and it is up to him to stand up to the forces that are trying to oppress humanity and take him down. The film stars Sharlto Copley as Chappie, supported by Dev Patel, Hugh Jackman, Watkin Tudor Jones, Yolandi Visser, Jose Pablo Cantillo, and Sigourney Weaver. Chappie is Blomkamp's third feature length film, written alongside his wife Terri Tatchell, who worked with him on District 9, which also starred Sharlto Copley
