Description

The Ballad of Wallis Island is a British comedy-drama directed by James Griffiths and written by and starring Tim Key and Tom Basden, expanded from their earlier BAFTA-nominated short film. A gentle, bittersweet story laced with original folk songs, it was released by Focus Features to widespread critical affection in 2025.

Tim Key plays Charles Heath, a lonely, motor-mouthed two-time lottery winner living alone on a remote island, who uses his fortune to lure his favorite musician — the reclusive Herb McGwyer, played by Tom Basden — to perform a private concert. Complications multiply when Charles has also, without telling Herb, invited Herb's former musical and romantic partner Nell (Carey Mulligan), forcing the estranged duo to confront their shared past amid Charles's relentless, well-meaning chatter.

The film earned rapturous reviews — including a near-perfect critical score — for its warmth, its melancholy humor, and the ache beneath its comedy, with particular praise for Key's performance and the original songs. A quiet word-of-mouth success, it became one of the year's most beloved small films. The Ballad of Wallis Island is streaming on Peacock.

E.B. was supposed to take-over the family business when he split; and when Hollywood turns-out less than rewarding, he fakes injury from a car accident, imposing his own slacking self on another L.A. slacker, whom E.B. entrusts with the business of saving Easter. James Marsden plays Fred, unrepentant slacker and reluctant host. Kaley Cuoco, Elizabeth Perkins, and Chelsea Handler add depth, style, and spice to Hop.

While traveling to Paris, the French capital city known for being romantic and alluring, a family plans on spending time there together. A young couple, engaged and confused about life come to learn that there just may be a different life to be offered and it's even better than what they have going.Director Woody Allen wanted to film in Paris back in 2006 but changed his mind when it became obvious it would be too costly. His choices in cast members was spot on and the results is one of the brightest and funniest romantic comedies in recent history. Owen Wilson (Marley & Me, Little Fockers), Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes, Morning Glory), Adrien Brody (The Experiment, Predators), and Cathy Bates (Harry's Law, Fried Green Tomatoes) head up a talented cast that keeps this comic romp moving along as they fine their way around in the bright lights of Paris."

You can threat Zombieland as the horror movie in the relative manner only. With all its hordes of walking dead, with frenzied Woody Harrelson's shears at the ready, gallons of blood and rolls of intestines, horror can only be relative. This is a great, ingenious, cruel comedy, where, however, shifted all the genre framework, where the twelve year old girl is playing with firearm and harsh zombie fighter sweetly bathe children and puppies in the bath; where the main comic is stupid and ridiculous to die. And if the comedian was killed - hence, in general, everything is permitted.

The Switch

The Switch

Although "The Switch" movie talks on how to puke in a trash can and destroy lice, it still remains pretty sweet comedy. First of all, thanks to Jason Bateman, who plays an anti-mucho man, subspecies, a kind of "a New York neurotic" (which may, for example, to send friends a picture of his scrotum, because it seemed to him that there is a tumor). But he tenderly looks at his son! He's so funny paints a chance acquaintance, what awaits them in the coming years. "The Switch" has other pleasures: some wonderful jokes and smart remarks, Jennifer Aniston is still the same charming "sheep" as she was in the "Friends" TV series, and Juliette Lewis is the same "wild child" as she used to be.
