Tragedy, much like misery, loves company. In Clint Eastwood's Hereafter movie, three intertwining stories of persons who have had close encounters with death and the dead are told in dramatic episodes. Matt Damon is George Lonegan, an American worker who can talk with the dead; while Cecile de France is Marie, a French TV journalist and one of the few tsunami survivors and there are brothers, Marcus and Jason (played by Frankie and George McLaren) who died from a car accident. At one dramatic point, these tragic stories converge.

The Lincoln Lawyer (2011) is an film adaptation of Michael Connelly's novel written and published in 2005. The Lincoln Lawyer movie's plot is loosely based and showcases the life and job of criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller conducting his business from the backseat of the Lincoln Town Car driven by his formerly client who works off his legal fees as a Mickey Haller's driver. The movie centers on an unusual case of Louis Roulet, a Los Angeles real estate agent and a son of major businessman, who seems to be mistakenly accused in rape and attempt to murder his female "victim". Among the Mickey's cases of drug dealers, narco-barons and other wide-range "innocent" criminals, the Louis Roulet's defense seems to be an easy job of justification of innocent man. But this case starts an unpredictable chain of events immersing Haller in the deadly game with the one question arise: how to survive?"As it was said by Michael Connelly, who has written "The Lincoln Lawyer" novel: "A couple days ago I saw an unfinished cut of it and could not be happier…. Those who loved the book will love the movie, I think. Those who don't know the book will love it just the same." So, there is the case and the question for us to decide: can we trust Michael Connelly?"

Another psychedelic masterpiece from Danny Boyle, Trance (2013) is good enough to stand in one row with his other mind blowing movies: The Beach, Trainspotting and Shallow Grave. There are no doubts in brilliant actors play when it comes to James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel. The story of Danny Boyle's Trance begins when young professional art auctioneer Frank (Vincent Cassel) comes to his hypnotherapist to remember where he hid a precious painting. Session by session the truth reveals: the painting was stolen by Frank himself and hidden in unknown place. Furthermore, Frank has been mixed up with group of criminals, the international work of art thieves. That's why Frank has to remember where he lost a painting as soon as possible – his life is at stake.

Salt movie initially had a powerful charge of positive energy given by the director Philip Noyce, who is one of the best in the quite competitive market of the political thrillers. In "Salt," he managed to show off their skills in full force and create a frenzied pace in which the main character has to move. Another important component of the film perfectness is a vivid visual artwork. So, the Angelina Jolie's protagonist character forced to change appearance, as a result he consistently appears before us in different character types. It positively affects the dynamics of the film, bringing in scenes lots of action energy and bright colors. If we talk about the place of film in the Jolie filmography, it should be noted that the "Salt" is another milestone in the career of the actress in the field of action genre.

George Smiley was a disgrace as a British spy back when the "Cold War" was the world's biggest threat. The mid 20th century found much of the free world in fear of those who chose to do harm to any who did not agree with their way of thinking. Soviet Russia was the biggest threat at the time and we used spies to investigate what they were up to constantly. They, in turn, also had their spies who kept a close eye on the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Based on a classic novel with the same title, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy tells a tale of intrigue and quiet desperation that depicts the spy among us who went about their business without fear for their own lives. Men like George Smiley (Gary Oldman from The Dark Knight, Air Force One), who comes out of retirement to find a "mole" who has infiltrated the Secret Intelligence Service and is a threat to all things right in the world. What ensues makes for an excellent story and even though slow in parts, is well worth viewing.
