Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects scheduled to hit the screens in 2013 is centered on unfortunate woman Emily Hawkins who is waiting for her husband to be released from a prison. As the release time comes closer, Emily is showing more signs of anxiety. This anxiety leads to serious psychological issues and Emily takes psychologist consultations. The doctor prescribes a new drug to heal her troubled mind – a brand new wonder of modern pharmaceutical industry. The pills help Emily but incredibly effective medication shows its side effects. Now the issues caused by the pills seem to be much more threatening than initial Emily's troubles. Previously named The Better Pills, Side Effects isn't the first Steven Soderbergh's movie project in the field of "applied psychotechnics", just remember his We Need to Talk About Kevin and Playground; neither for Rooney Mara who plays the leading role in Side Effects, her remarkable roles in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network have showed a great potential of this brilliant actress. The rest of the cast ensemble is awesome too: Channing Tatum, Vinessa Shaw, Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones, David Costabile and Mamie Gummer – not every movie can boast such a set of great actors gathered in single project.

It's a Christmas time of 2004. An ordinary British family Henry (Ewan McGregor) and Maria (Naomi Watts) visits Thailand on vacations with their three children: Lucas, who is just turned 7, and his younger brothers Simon and Thomas (children are played by Tom Holland, Oaklee Pendergastand and Samuel Joslin, accordingly). As they reach the Thai hotel, their family suit is upgraded to villa, a horrible decision, as it turns after. They are exchanging some Christmas gifts and heading to the coastline the morning after. Nothing has presaged a catastrophe. But meanwhile the terrible roar is heard from the seaside, and, in the moment, a giant wave of Tsunami covers the shoreline with all the tourists on it, including Henry, Maria and their beloved children. The wave is crashing trees, houses, cars, throwing human bodies to right and left. In a few seconds it appears that Henry, Simon and Thomas were picked up by the strong current and wiped to the inner part of land while Maria and Lucas are struggling for their survive in the roaring waves full of fallen tries which strike them inflicting terrible wounds, and making "the happy end" for them almost impossible. The movie, filmed by Juan Antonio Bayona, an outstanding Spanish director and producer, keeps us on the toes these first 20 minutes. The super-realistic 3D sound of imminent Tsunami is awesome, the pictures of scorched post-Tsunami landscape are phenomenally affecting, and the rest of the story based on true life events is very touchable and tragic.

In an age where women are considered second class citizens and not allowed to hold jobs of any value, Albert Nobbs finds work as a butler in a posh Dublin hotel. Nobbs however just happens to be a woman who sees the opportunity to make a living even though it is discouraged in Ireland in the 19th century. This works fine until she falls for a handsome man and wants to escape from the lies she has lived with. Glenn Close first fell in love with the Albert Nobbs character and played the part back in 1982 in an off Broadway play. She purchased the rights and began working to make this highly entertaining film. ross dressing is something that has always been controversial and remains in use today even by mothers in Afghanistan who dress their young daughters up to appear like boys so they won't be harassed in public. Close loved the story idea of a middle aged woman turned man in order to be independent, thus proving the woman in Nobbs is actually the one who is strong and capable.lenn Close (The World According To Garp, Air Force One) is Albert Nobbs, Jonathan Rhys Meyers (From Paris With Love, Shelter) is Viscount Yarrell, and Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1) is Dr. Holloran.

Network is a 1976 American satirical drama film directed by Sidney Lumet and written by Paddy Chayefsky. The film follows a fictional television network, UBS, and its struggling news division, as they try to boost their ratings by any means necessary. When one of their veteran news anchors, Howard Beale, has an on-air breakdown and begins ranting against society, the network sees an opportunity to exploit his popularity and turn him into a media sensation.

Forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest. This is the message Tyler Perry is trying to carry in his 2013 movie Tyler Perry's Temptation. The full name of the movie is Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor. The story of the film is revolving around Judith, a married marriage counselor who finds herself in the nets of adultery. Her forbidden passion, one of her clients, a successful and charming Harley (Robbie Jones) makes her restless, while Judith's husband has no suspects about his wife devotion. The intensity of action and emotion is rising from date to date making Judith to face uneasy choice between bad in worse. The cast of the movie is worth your attention: Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Lisa Tyler from The Defenders ) stars as Judith. Another remarkable actress in Tyler Perry's Temptation is Kim Kardashian. For Kim it's almost a debut in "big" Hollywood cinema (Deep in the Valley and Disaster Movie could hardly count for this), so, depending on her play it could be pivotal point for her career.

The dramatic storyline of "People Like Us" tells us about unfortunate broke salesman who is suddenly faced the bad news about his father and the necessity to deliver 150 grands to his sister he has never knew. He feels self-confident enough to convince her to let him left the money for himself, but very soon he realizes the futility of his life when he meets lonesome mother struggling for more significant needs than he could even imagine. The film was directed by Alex Kurtzman, who is better known as producer of action-packed movies like Star Trek and Cowboys & Aliens. People Like Us is his debut as director, and it's essential that this movie is a low budgeted one. However, it does not mean that something is wrong with this film. Awesome directional skills of Kurtzman multiplied on perfect assembly of cast and heart-touching screenplay (co-written by Alex too) resulted in must-see masterpiece equally standing among his other works as producer like Transformers Prime, Exit Strategy, Exit Strategy, Hawaii Five-0, Fringe. But, let's go back to the cast: beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer (Dark Shadows, Stardust) as Lillian is accompanied by Elizabeth Banks and charming Olivia Wilde (In Time, Tron: Legacy) as Hanna. The "downshifting" salesman is portrayed by Chris Pine, who is well known for his roles in latest Star Treks and very funny dramcom This Means War.
