The film was shot in Victoria, mostly in Melbourne. The scene with the funeral was filmed outside the Church of the Mother of the Lord in the East Ivanho.

The plot is clearly teetering on the brink between a protracted legal thriller and a frightening story about the cunning maniac who is not led by the hedge, and which cleverly uses a loophole in the system of American Justice. There is no satire in Law Abiding Citizen's plot. Despite the presence of mayor, many lawyers and lots of advocates in the the F. Gary Gray movie., it is just a fascinating story about a man who put the personality over the system. Put and won.
