Hereafter connects three people whose lives have been reshaped by death: George Lonegan, an American worker who believes he can communicate with the dead; Marie Lelay, a French journalist changed by a near-death experience; and Marcus, a London schoolboy searching for answers after a devastating loss. Matt Damon, Cécile de France and twins Frankie and George McLaren lead the three intersecting stories.
Clint Eastwood directed and composed the score from Peter Morgan’s screenplay, with Tom Stern as cinematographer and Joel Cox and Gary D. Roach as editors. After a Toronto Film Festival screening, the film opened in Los Angeles and New York on October 15, 2010. AFI records a 129-minute PG-13 presentation; Prime Video’s current transactional page displays a shorter 2-hour-3-minute runtime, so the provider version should be checked before playback.
