When the award winning sitcom The Game moved over from the CW to BET (Black Entertainment Television) on January of 2011 they brought along the original cast members and producer/creator Mara Brock Akil as well as an entirely new appeal to audiences. The premiere episode aired January 11, 2011 and brought in 7.7 milliion viewers, a record for an ad supported TV sitcom for cable. When the CW dropped The Game they realized they had a hot property when a campaign to keep the program created a ground swell that crashed message boards twice. But budget prevailed and soon BET took over. The new season finds Brandy (Grammy award winning singer) joining the "sexy five" cast of Melanie, Derwin, Tasha, Malik, and Jason. Couple Derwin and Melanie Davis continue their attempt to start a family, Tasha Mack discovers her boyfriend is cheating (with a wife and family no less), and Malik Wright loses his quarterback position with the San Diego Sabers. Kelly and Jason Pitts remain apart but continue needing each other. Sparks will definitely fly as this popular series springs into action on the BET network.

Does "Californication" have an audience outside Los Angeles? "X-Files" hero and heart-throb David Duchovny plays a novelist who's addicted to both sex and drugs but takes a shot at raising his teenage daughter on his own. For the real Hollywood housewives, this Showtime staple may seem at least as ripped-from-everyday-life as their own weekly melodrama, but how does it play Omaha and Schenectady? If blocked writers really were seductive, a million part-time bloggers would feel empowered to rewrite Lady Chatterley's Lover. Two salient features keep premier cable viewers tuning in for their weekly dose of SoCal self-pity: First, son of a playwright and alumnus of Princeton, Duchovny has enough empathy for his ostensibly tortured character that he can invest "Californication's" uninspired screenwriting with a little angst, a lot of sex appeal, and a soupcon of roguish charm. Second, whatever "Californication" lacks in substance and depth, it more than makes-up in graphic sex. Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of relevant family drama woven-in there somewhere?

So they do what comes naturally to them"¦ they scream and carry on until someone comes to their aid. New parents must know they cannot win, at least not for a few years. Emily Spivey (Parks & Recreation, Saturday Night Live) created Up All Night and she apparently knows all about the problems caused by newborns in the house. Christina Applegate (Married With Children, Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead) and her husband Will Arnett (Arrested Development, Blades of Glory) are Reagan and Chris, two new parents without a clue! They bring their sweet little bundle home from the hospital and the fun begins. Also starring Maya Rudolph (Saturday Night Live) as Reagan's best friend Ava and Nick Cannon (America's Got Talent, The Nick Cannon Show) as Calvin.

The sit-com opens up with three men, each in their own home, playing online video games and discussing their life goals. Sandwiched in between a new hit comedy starring Tim Allen "Last Man Standing" and the elimination night for "Dancing with the Stars", how can this new one lose? ABC has long had a strong line up on Tuesday evenings, particularly in the area of the situation comedy genre. Starring Dan Fogler (Mars Needs Moms, Take Me Home Tonight), playing Kenny Hayden who sees his ex-wife out with a much better looking man. Kenny's ex is played by Amanda Detmer (Necessary Roughness, The Vampire Diaries). She got fed up with being married to a child who could not, or would not grow up. Christopher Moynihan (House, M.D., Psyche) is Craig Griffith, the sensitive yet manly type who still carries a flame for his ex from the college years. And Will Keen is played by Mather Zickel from TV shows Dislocated and The Cape. Will's wife Theresa, ably played by Teri Polo (Medium, Monk) is gorgeous and makes Will constantly wonder why she married him. Satisfying comedy that perhaps needs some time to find its purpose.

Returning to television as the star of ABC's "Mr. Sunshine," Matthew Perry faces two formidable challenges: First, he must out-grow, live-down, or crawl out of his intimate association with Chandler, his legendary "Friends" persona. Second, Perry and co-star Allison Janney must inspire their audience to forget "Mr. Sunshine" replaces Courtney Cox's hit "Cougar Town." Perry and Jenny benefit from writers' and producers' wonderfully quirky visions of their characters and unusual situation. Perry plays Ben, a character potentially as memorable as Chandler but with far greater depth and much richer melancholy mid-life undertones. Operations Manager of The Sunshine Center, a run-down San Diego arena, home of the circus and lingerie football, Ben learns on his fortieth birthday that his girlfriend is leaving him because he is so thoroughly self-involved he has no love left over for anyone else. Jenny plays Crystal, the arena's pill-popping owner who could become America's next favourite villain on the strength of her thinly veiled racism and despise of children, except that Jenny's consummate skill as an actress redeems her. One Los Angeles reviewer wisely concludes, "["Mr. Sunshine"] isn't perfect; and it won't change the landscape of comedic television right away, even though it's part of a game-changing three-hour comedy block for ABC. But it is taking all of the important steps in the right direction." If "Mr. Sunshine" seems a little wobbly at first, viewers should remember "Cougar Town's" first-episode identity crisis, allowing lots of latitude for Perry's and "Mr. Sunshine's" rapid evolution.

"Workaholics" is an American television sitcom that aired from 2011 to 2017.
