Eyes of Wakanda is a Marvel Animation anthology series for Disney+, developed under Ryan Coogler's Proximity Media and created by Todd Harris. Set firmly within the Marvel Cinematic Universe's 'Sacred Timeline,' it steps away from present-day superheroics to tell a sweeping, globe-trotting story about Wakanda's secret history across thousands of years.
Each of the four episodes follows the Hatut Zaraze, Wakanda's elite 'Dogs of War,' as they are dispatched across history to recover dangerous vibranium artifacts that have slipped beyond the kingdom's borders. The adventures span Bronze Age Crete, imperial China and nineteenth-century Ethiopia, anchored by warriors like the disgraced Dora Milaje member Noni, voiced by Winnie Harlow, and the rogue warlord known as the Lion, voiced by Cress Williams. The result plays less like a cape show than a centuries-spanning spy saga about duty, secrecy and the cost of Wakanda's isolation.
Released all at once on Disney+ in August 2025, the series was warmly received, praised for its concise storytelling, morally complex characters and its striking, hand-painted animation style. It topped the Disney+ charts during its premiere week and won a Primetime Emmy for its character design, standing out as one of the more distinctive corners of the animated MCU. It streams on Disney+.

Undoubtfully, cinematography has been my passion since a very young age. Even now, watching a new movie or series always prompts me to ask a lot of questions to the author. Thus, every little essay about a title is definitely not a spoiler, but rather an attempt to explore the idea.
