Crystal Lake is a horror series for Peacock produced with A24, conceived as a prequel to the 1980 slasher landmark Friday the 13th. After a high-profile change of creative direction, Brad Caleb Kane came aboard as showrunner, writer and executive producer, steering the long-gestating project to the screen as one of the most anticipated horror titles of the year.
The series digs into the origins of the Friday the 13th saga and the mythology of Camp Crystal Lake, with Linda Cardellini starring as Pamela Voorhees, the fiercely devoted mother whose grief and rage set the entire franchise in motion. Rather than simply restaging the familiar lakeside murders, the show aims to build out the world and the family tragedy behind one of horror's most infamous legacies, promising the brand's signature dread alongside deeper character work.
All eight episodes premiere on Peacock on October 15, 2026, pairing A24's prestige-horror pedigree with a franchise that helped define the slasher genre. Jason Voorhees and the blood-soaked summer camp that bears the series' name loom over the story from the start. It is set to stream on Peacock.
