Sketches are a comics best format for television and Nick Swardson has a show that's loaded with them. Each episode displays some sort of rank and raunchy humorous ingredients that will make 7th graders giggle and adults cover their heads. But along the way some of it is actually funny even if rather dark. Skits about cats in wheelchairs, snipers who masturbate, and incestual dreams involving the Nightmare on Elm Street movies are unusual fare for family television nights and when the show's main character sits and tells us about what we are about to see we begin to wonder what world this is. Nick's dead cat, Fitzgerald, is fair game for another episode as are a fatherly bucket list for a dying son, urine powered cars, and even a Gay Robot. Never one to be short on "off the wall" ideas, Nick Swardson's Pretend Time will give viewers a peek into a rather weird place, the mind of Swardson. Imagine, if you will, recovering a time capsule full of sex objects, or following Gay Robot as he buys airplane tickets to visit the alien probe site (area 51 come to mind?), or maybe learn how a forest ranger steps in to break up intimate moments between homosexuals. When he first pitched the show, Cherry called it a "parody" of soap operas; when ABC picked-up the show, executives told Cherry to focus on the soap opera and the parody would take care of itself. They were right. Up and down Wisteria Lane, four women wage love and sustain family life, cleverly concealing all kinds of insidious plots, illicit affairs, and the occasional felony. Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria Parker have imprinted their styles on their characters, collecting armloads of Emmys, Golden Globe Awards, and Screen Actors' Guild Awards along the way. In April, 2007, ratings experts reported "Desperate Housewives" was the most popular tv show in its global demographic, boasting more 120 million worldwide viewers. Behind the scenes, a little bit of the show's history reveals how Disney executives can overdose on their own sugary snacks. Shortly after programmers Lloyd Braun and Susan Lyne gave the go-ahead for "Desperate Housewives," the suits fired them, because they simultaneously had approved an extremely "risky" TV show called "Lost."

A Scott Silveri's situation comedy starring Matthew Perry in leading role, Go On received mostly positive feedback from critics thanks to Matthew's brilliant play as Ryan King. Ryan is the main protagonist in the TV show; he is suffering from tragic loss of his wife and attending some sort of group therapy predominately consisting of people who lost one or more of their beloved ones, but not without the exclusions. These exclusions make the series funny despite of the abovementioned tragic outline of the plot. For example, a girl named Sonia is coping with the death of her cat, Cinderella; Danny is grieving that his wife had a baby from other man and so on. Although many critics agree that Matthew Perry is the only selling point of Go On, the rest of the cast ensemble is good enough to accompany Matthew success: the group leader, Lauren Schneider, is played by Laura Benanti (Carol-Lynne from The Playboy Club and Maria Grazie fromLaw & Order: Special Victims Unit); Julie White plays Anne, a lesbian lawyer grieving the death of her girlfriend (or boyfriend girl?), you probably know Julie White as Gwen in Hello I Must Be Going and Judy Witwicky from Transformers movie series.

The three main characters involved in "Traffic Light" apparently represent the three colors involved on a light that directs traffic. Mike (David Denman), Adam (Nelson Franklin), and Ethan (Kris Marshall) have been best friends ever since their days in college and even though they've chosen different paths in life, still remain close now that they are in their thirties. Mike might be compared to a red light because he is married, has a small son, and settled in comfortably with his life and lifestyle. Adam is then the yellow or caution light. He recently moved in with a girlfriend and is cautiously optimistic about their relationship. Ethan, a British bachelor, has no plans for future commitments and hopes to remain "footloose and fancy free" with his life. This highly entertaining sit-com is popular in part due to good writing, interesting characters, and the fact it has no irritating "laugh track" does not hurt. This show is to be appreciated for its candor between friends as they each deal with life and balancing romance and relationships.

An Australian TV mockumentary, Angry Boys has what it takes to make reality television fun to watch. Take a set of teenage twin brothers from Australia, a rapper from Los Angeles, California, a young Japanese boy who wants to become a champion surfer, and an assortment of other characters who drift in and out of the weekly shows and you have a strange combination that somehow works in the "reality TV" format. It's about the typical issues faced by young males in this, the 21st century. The peer pressures, the hopes and dreams all young people have to begin with. Some see their dreams come true, some simply go another route to find happiness. Twins Nathan and Daniel live with their mother and step dad and lead average lives but Nathan happens to be almost entirely deaf. His brother, Daniel decides to give him a great going away present (before Nathan goes off to a school for the deaf) and invite a few of their heroes to attend. Those include a rap artist from LA, S mouse, a surf pro, Tim Okazaki, and a bikini clad model named Emily Chase. Some unusual character combinations make this fun and interesting viewing.

"Looking" is a TV series that aired on HBO from 2014 to 2016. The show follows a group of gay friends who live in San Francisco and navigate their personal and professional lives.
