TiMER imagines a near-present Los Angeles where a wrist implant counts down to the moment its wearer will meet a destined partner. Oona, played by Emma Caulfield, has built her life around that promise, but her device remains blank because her supposed soulmate has not received an implant.
Writer-director Jac Schaeffer turns the speculative premise into a romantic comedy about certainty, choice and the risks people avoid when technology appears to know their future. Oona’s growing connection with musician Mikey conflicts with the device’s prediction, while her sister Steph offers a very different response to the same system.
