The Lego Movie is a 2014 American-Australian computer-animated adventure comedy film directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The film tells the story of Emmet Brickowski, an ordinary Lego minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the Lego universe. He is recruited by a group of rebels led by Master Builder Wyldstyle to stop the evil Lord Business from gluing the Lego universe together. Along the way, Emmet and his team of rebels encounter various characters from different Lego themes such as Batman, Superman, and the wizards of the Lego world.
The Lego Movie was released on February 7, 2014, and received critical acclaim for its animation, humor, voice acting, and storyline. The film grossed over $469 million worldwide against its $60 million budget, making it a commercial success. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Everything Is Awesome," which became a popular song and was widely used in promotions for the film. A sequel, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, was released in 2019.
