The Batman

Description

The Batman is a 2022 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Batman. The film is a reboot of the Batman film franchise, directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig. Robert Pattinson stars as Bruce Wayne / Batman. The film also stars Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. The film follows Batman, who has been fighting crime in Gotham City for two years, uncovering corruption while pursuing the Riddler, a serial killer who targets Gotham's elite. The film development began after Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in the DC Extended Universe in 2013. But Affleck dropped out and Reeves took over. Filming began in the United Kingdom in January 2020, but was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic and it resumed later in the year and concluded in Chicago in March 2021.

The film was a commercial success, grossing over $770 million against a $185–200 million budget, received positive reviews from critics and it's intended to launch a Batman shared universe, with two sequels planned and two spin-off television series in development for HBO Max. In August 2013, Ben Affleck was cast as Bruce Wayne / Batman for multiple films in the DC Extended Universe. He made his debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Suicide Squad (2016) and Justice League (2017). In October 2014, Warner Bros announced plans for a standalone Batman film starring Affleck, he was in negotiations to direct and co-write the screenplay with Geoff Johns by July 2015. But Affleck had reservations about directing the film and announced in January 2017 that he was stepping down as the director but still planned to star and produce. The film was put on hold due to the re-evaluation of Warner Bros approach to superhero films after the release of Batman v Superman.

The film highlights that Batman's wealth does not alleviate his suffering and explores the idea that he should be more philanthropic. It also explores grief, trauma and the "horror" of living with post-traumatic stress disorder through Batman's character. The film also shows a different relationship between Batman and the police, with them viewing him as a criminal and a level of oversight they're not used to dealing with. This aspect of the film is considered "timely" given the contemporary American sociopolitical context including increased awareness of police brutality.

The Last Stand

Action & Adventure
I'll be back, he promised in a 1984 sci-fi action movie The Terminator , and we see how California ex-governor keeps his promise: "The Last Stand" features exactly that kind of Arnold Schwarzenegger as we have remembered since the times of The Terminator and Commando. His character Ray Owens is a sheriff in small peaceful town on the USA-Mexican border, reluctantly involved into the last stand of local policemen against the most wanted drug kingpin who just spectacularly escaped from FBI and now heading to the Mexican border in order to slide abroad as soon as possible speeding above 200 Mph on his Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in a tow. But Ray Owens is not just a sheriff, he is the former FBI anti-drug department officer recently retired after some bungled operation (and, what is more important, he is also ex-Terminator as we know). Of course, he could not stand aside, and this is where bloody massacre begins. We'll see Arnold Schwarzenegger with shotgun blowing out enemies brains; we'll see him with monstrous machine gun doing the same, etc. Furthermore, aside of these "special features" we will se definitely brilliant cast of actors: Rodrigo Santoro, Zach Gilford, Genesis Rodriguez, Forest Whitaker, Jaimie Alexander, Eduardo Noriega, Luis Guzmán, Johnny Knoxville – an exciting list, isn't it? However the most serious thing you need to know that this movie is the first American action film directed by Kim Ji-woon, a talented Korean cinematographer, worldwide known for his masterpieces: "The Good, the Bad, the Weird", "A Bittersweet Life" and "I Saw the Devil."
Hit and Run

Hit and Run

Action & Adventure
At the first glance Hit and Run (2012) looks like Knockin' on Heaven's Door (1997) combined with Drive (2011), which is causing some negative expectations, taking into consideration the fact of how many times Knockin' on Heaven's Door was cloned, mostly in disastrous manner. But, it only at the first look, the second one will be stopped in state of total quandary by ill-fitting Bradley Cooper dreads. Bradley is hardly recognizable in Hit and Run, but it's still him playing the partner of former motorcyclist Charlie Bronson with a kind of "shady" past. The movie plot is based on quite untwisted screenplay written by Dax Shepard (who has directed film, too, and played the main protagonist), the story about mad driver who risked everything busting Witness Protection Program, for the sake of one single aim: to bring his beautiful fiancée to Los Angeles where she gets her dream job. If you are about to say something like: "what a stupid idea: to risk your life for girlfriend job?" you better just stop, take a deep breath and rethink it, maybe you'll do the same if gorgeous Kristen Bell was your girlfriend. Changed your mind, duh? Oh, yes, the Kristen and Bradley duo will definitely make you wishing to watch this movie. But let's go back to the plot: while driving to LA, the couple will encounter lots of awkward adventurous including: ex-gang mobs chasing Charlie, his partner seeking buried treasures from criminal past, and, of course cops sitting on their tails.
