A film by Robert Schwentke is not even trying to step into the territory of melodrama: the protagonist played by Rachel McAdams is so in love with that there are no other characteristics can be found in her person. Her partner, Eric Bana plays just a handsome man, imbued with positive as with chloroform, next to whom dreamy lonely woman wished to be. Of course, Bana is not shining, as Patrick Swayze, while parting with Demi Moore, but it crumbles in the arms McAdams, like sand in the sandglass tears. Confrontation and the unity of love and time was already fully embodied on the screen by Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain), and for this pathos it was actually destroyed by the critics in Venice and the audience at the box office. Forgetting Sarah Marshall devoted to trendy once upon a time MTV series about hard to forget a person you fall in love with. The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the second part of the "Twilight" appeared to be more exciting, vibrant and interesting. There are new secrets, new characters, igniting incredible passion. The action moves from gloomy Forks to sunny Italy, where a clan of vampires Volturi sitting in the marble interior of the temples of the Renaissance. Probably because the Cullens are aesthetic vampires the film strikes with the elegance. David Brisbin, the production designer of the movie worked on color in the film, based on a rich color palette of pre-Raphaelite artists. Forks lush greenery, red hair vampire, red cloak and eyes of vampires are creating an incredible fairy-tale atmosphere.

Safe Haven of 2013 is loosely based on the Nicholas Sparks' best-selling novel of 2011 with same name. The movie's storyline winds around private life of Katie Feldman and her past's dark secrets. Movie starts with scenes where we see Katie - she is settling in a small touristic town Southport, located near Cape Fear (North Carolina). Being a gorgeous, lighthearted young woman, she works as a waitress in one of the local restaurants. Everything looks fine and her life is passing in calm and friendly neighborhood, but as soon as film scenes go, we notice that Katie has to cope with some problems originating from her shady past. It comes absolutely clear that something was wrong in her "previous life" when a local store owner Alex Wheatley tries to build relationships with her. Katie withdraws into herself, although it becomes clear that she has similar feeling towards Alex. Why she keep her heart locked for a new love? It's a question that could be answered by some mysterious events living in Katie's past. The situation becomes more unstable when another man, Jo with enters her live with that sort of feelings. Now, Katie is faced some though choice, a widowed ex-army-mayor, Alex, a local dreamboat, Jo, and staying alone one-on-one with her past. Mostly targeted in woman audience, Safe Haven features not only typical Sparks' signature plot, but quite a decent ensemble cast: Katie Feldman is played by cute Julianne Hough (Sherrie Christian from Rock of Ages , Ariel from Footloose, and Georgia Burlesque), while Josh Duhamel portrays Alex Wheatley. We know Josh for his roles of Jeremy Coleman in Fire with Fire and Captain William Lennox in Transformers franchise.

Sitting on the 15th place in The Greatest Directors of All Time list, Woody Allen is a talented writer, who has got more Oscars than fingers on both of your hands. And his next masterpiece To Rome with Love is likely to bring him another one (an Oscar, of course, not a finger). The events of the movie, that seem to be unconnected at the first blush, are masterfully intertwined with each other, mostly not physically, but spiritually, which is an Allen's bonanza anyway. The first story follows a famous NY architect, Jack (Jesse Eisenberg: 30 Minutes or Less, The Social Network) who is nothing more than a younger "reflection" of John (Alec Baldwin: The Good Shepherd, The Departed), who is trying to go back in the past to his youth. Another story is Antonio (Alessandro Tiberi) and Milly's (Alessandra Mastronardi) amorous drama which they are going through separately. This story also involves an Italian prostitute Anna (Penélope Cruz: Broken Embraces, Vicky Cristina Barcelona), and Italian cinema celebrity Luca Salta (Antonio Albanese). There are two other stories (or vignettes) that seem to be separated and unconnected but all of them are nothing more than beads on a curved string of life. By the way, Woody Allen has refuted the assumption of vignette intersection, leaving the audience an opportunity to decide what unites the stories.

Atom Egoyan, the director of Chloe is well aware that the strength of any such stories is in the nuances at first hand and "Chloe" is all built on them. It is not important what exactly happens, but how it is reflected on the people. Egoyan clearly shows how the complexes, fears, worries and speculations destroy subjective reality. Main power "Chloe" is in this reticence not even in focus on the main character: the movie switches from one character to another for several times. That is not an accident that the film has a woman's name - the final impression of it is about the same as that from a meeting with a pretty mysterious stranger. Perhaps, as a result it is not turned into something much bigger and important than the conversation of exquisite sexually charged flirtation - but that's a little dangerous feeling of rocking intoxication, mild viciousness and willingness to lose all control is stored, perhaps are even the better things.
