Piranha 3D turns a crowded spring-break celebration at Lake Victoria into a creature-feature disaster after an underwater tremor releases prehistoric predators. Elisabeth Shue plays local sheriff Julie Forester, who joins forces with a rescue team as the attack reaches the lake’s visitors. The ensemble also includes Adam Scott, Jerry O’Connell, Ving Rhames, Jessica Szohr, Christopher Lloyd and Richard Dreyfuss.
The film opened in Los Angeles and New York on August 20, 2010. Alexandre Aja directed from a screenplay by Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, while Mark Canton, Marc Toberoff, Aja and Gregory Levasseur received producer credits. Current Paramount+ and Hulu listings identify the film as an R-rated 2010 release running approximately 88 minutes.
