One of Them Days is a 2025 buddy comedy directed by Lawrence Lamont in his feature debut, from a screenplay by Syreeta Singleton, and released by Sony's TriStar Pictures. Produced in part by Issa Rae's Hoorae banner, it pairs Keke Palmer with the Grammy-winning musician SZA in her first lead film role, and consciously revives the raucous, big-hearted spirit of Black buddy comedies like Friday.
Best friends and roommates Dreux (Keke Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA) wake up to discover that Alyssa's feckless boyfriend has blown their rent money, leaving them only hours to scrape together what they owe before their landlord evicts them. What follows is a frantic, single-day odyssey across Los Angeles, through workplaces, clinics, parties and petty disasters, as the two women's loyalty to each other is tested at every turn. The supporting cast includes Katt Williams, Janelle James and Maude Apatow.
Opening over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend in January 2025, the film was a surprise critical and commercial hit, earning strong reviews, roughly a ninety percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and comfortably outgrossing its modest budget. Critics singled out the easy chemistry between its leads and hailed SZA's assured big-screen debut, and its momentum made it one of the most talked-about comedies of the year. It is streaming on Netflix.
