If you are very fan of such movies like The Illusionist and The Prestige, the 2013 year will delight you with some brilliant surprises. There are two movies worth your attention in 2013 The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Now You See Me. And if the second one looks more like some mix with drama and crime genre, the first one is the "pure magic". Much like Nolan's The Prestige, Don Scardino's The Incredible Burt Wonderstone tells a story about two magicians Burt Wonderstone and Anton Marvelton whose performance gained them the first place in world rankings, but suddenly their fortune dried when Anton gets trauma during the performance. It was an accident, but Anton blames Burt for this and leaves the show. Burt has to overcome desperation, he tries to find something credible in his life to draw inspiration for the new magic shows. For worse, a previously unknown street-magician Steve Gray enters a big scene with a dangerous, but much acclaimed trick which builds him the whole show, makes it an enormously popular one. Burt understands that Gray's success means checkmate for him when his beautiful assistant, Jane turns against him and joins Gray. There only salvation for Burt, to convince Anton forgive him and reunite in some new glorious show to overshadow Gray. It's not an easy mission to accomplish, because Anton has moved to Far East and seems to be quite happy without Las Vegas turmoil. Don Scardino managed his best to gather such a brilliant cast in this 30 000 000 USD movie: Jane is played by Olivia Wilde (Relanxious, The Third Person, People Like Us, Deadfall, TRON: Legacy) while main antagonist Steve Gray is portrayed by Jim Carrey (Dumb and Dumber To, Loomis Fargo, Mr. Popper's Penguins). The main character Burt Wonderstone is played by Steve Carell (Frank or Francis, Hope Springs, Date Night) while his partner, Anton Marvelton is depicted by Steve Buscemi (On the Road, Rampart, Grown Ups). And if you are not impressed enough, David Copperfield stars in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone as illusionist David Copperfield, of course.

Based on the Shakespearean play, The Tempest is a period movies set somewhere around the 16th or 17th century in a time where women who practiced witchcraft were punished. However this version of The Tempest has a twist, the sorcerer is now the sorceress. It is a story about a woman named Prospera who was banished by her brother and put on a ship to never return again along with her young daughter. Eventually she ends up on an island with no society and has to become both the mother figure and father figure to her daughter Miranda. The Tempest chronicles her rise to power over this magical island while battling many shipwrecked vigilantes who threaten to harm what she has. This movie offers everything from romance to action to science fiction making it a must see for all movie enthusiasts.

A Streetcar Named Desire is a 1951 film adaptation of Tennessee Williams' play of the same name. Directed by Elia Kazan, the film stars Marlon Brando, Vivien Leigh, and Kim Hunter, who all reprised their roles from the Broadway production. The film tells the story of Blanche DuBois, a former schoolteacher who moves to New Orleans to live with her sister and brother-in-law. Blanche's fragile mental state and troubled past clash with the harsh realities of her sister's working-class life, ultimately leading to tragedy.

The dramatic storyline of "People Like Us" tells us about unfortunate broke salesman who is suddenly faced the bad news about his father and the necessity to deliver 150 grands to his sister he has never knew. He feels self-confident enough to convince her to let him left the money for himself, but very soon he realizes the futility of his life when he meets lonesome mother struggling for more significant needs than he could even imagine. The film was directed by Alex Kurtzman, who is better known as producer of action-packed movies like Star Trek and Cowboys & Aliens. People Like Us is his debut as director, and it's essential that this movie is a low budgeted one. However, it does not mean that something is wrong with this film. Awesome directional skills of Kurtzman multiplied on perfect assembly of cast and heart-touching screenplay (co-written by Alex too) resulted in must-see masterpiece equally standing among his other works as producer like Transformers Prime, Exit Strategy, Exit Strategy, Hawaii Five-0, Fringe. But, let's go back to the cast: beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer (Dark Shadows, Stardust) as Lillian is accompanied by Elizabeth Banks and charming Olivia Wilde (In Time, Tron: Legacy) as Hanna. The "downshifting" salesman is portrayed by Chris Pine, who is well known for his roles in latest Star Treks and very funny dramcom This Means War.

Unexpectedly, six sessions of sexual therapy turns into something more valuable: a passionate and cognitive journey from isolation to spiritual emancipation. The story is loosely based on real life events happened with real Californian journalist who decided to dramatically change his "paralyzed" existence and succeeded. The film premiered on Sundance Film Festival in 2012 and gained mostly positive critics alongside with Audience Award in "Dramatic" category and Special Jury Prize in category "Dramatic Acting - Cast". As for cast ensemble – it represent a perfectly combined blend of true personalities pooled by a genuine chemistry between each other. The leading role of paralyzed writer was acquired by unparalleled John Hawkes, who may be familiar to you by his roles in The Playroom as Martin Cantwell, Arcadia as Tom and Contagion as Roger. Helen Hunt plays his soul mate and the sexual sessions partner, Cheryl Cohen Greene; you may remember Helen as Darcy Maguire in What Women Want, a Nancy Meyers movie, which was filmed in 2000.

Darren Aronofsky took an almost perfect movie about art, madness and how it is sometimes difficult to distinguish from one another. The most stupid thing you can do with this film - is to try to accuse him of vulgarity or secondary. Black Swan is a movie that with equal success can be compared with the classic Red Shoes of 1948 and Red Shoe Diaries in Saturday's TV - and both will be true. Aronofsky, who after all the applauses has nothing to proof, managed to do something very important in the Black Swan: to return the immediacy for the art-cinema. You can watch Black Swan as an exciting thriller about madness and as a melodrama about hot dancers.
