The super-smart but tragically nerdy kids go to Harvard; the wise-ass geniuses go to Yale. Natalie Portman went to Yale. Therefore, no one should feel at all surprised that Portman can follow a brilliant and breathtaking performance in Black Swan with a charming and lighthearted romp through No Strings Attached. The bitter and brutal ballet movie showed critics and audiences just how smart, sensitive, and psychotic Portman can become when a role demands manic intensity. One critic commented, "She always has been good, but now we know the woman actually can act—except she is so good we forget she is acting." No Strings Attached proves Portman's range, and it satisfies her concern that Hollywood produces far too few "vulgar" comedies for women by women and starring women."No Strings Attached gained director Ivan Reitman's attention when it qualified for the 2009 "Hollywood Blacklist," a studio executive's annual collection of the best scripts that have failed to make the cut at every major studio. The writers pitched No Strings Attached in a single sentence: "A guy and a girl struggle to have an exclusively sexual relationship as they both come to realize they want much more." Although the plot seems painfully thin, irony, sentiment, and humor alloy the script. Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher punctuate and pixelate the post-modern era's answer to Doris Day and Rock Hudson, delivering a sweetly satisfying Valentine's Day confection. Apparently, at Yale, students learn never to take themselves or their obvious brilliance too seriously.

People like Larry Crowne (Tom Hanks) are what America is all about… right? Well, maybe. Before becoming "downsized" by his employer, a big box company he has worked for since his days in the Navy, Larry Crowne was amiable, affable, and had a big sense of humor. Now he is about to lose his house because he owes more than it would sell for and he can't quite figure out what to do with his time now that he's no longer employed.Going back to school, Larry finds he is definitely not alone and in fact finds plenty more who have either lost their job or never quite had one to begin with. As they band together and travel about town in a herd of scooters, Larry discovers strong feelings for one of his teachers, Mercedes Tainot (Julia Roberts). With a strong cast like Hanks, Roberts, Pam Grier, Jon Seda, Bryan Cranston, and George Takei plus director Tom Hanks (also co-director with Nia Vardalos) this is a must see summer time movie."

Richard Curtis once again attempted to combine several genres and cater to all audiences, without an exception. The Boat That Rocked is sprightly comedy about horny rock propagandists. The movie is complemented by a gentle romantic touch of first love. Then it turns into a melodrama about growing up, finding one's own ego and his father. Then strives to make the step in the direction of a musical with indispensable Nighy dancing. It almost went into the drama: the British government still slightly crossed the line against the disgraced radio. And once again it becomes a comedy. Richard Curtis by doing nothing supernatural managed to go beyond this or that genre, really pleased everyone by this charming and even, "mainstream" movie.

My Life as a Dog is a 1985 Swedish drama film directed by Lasse Hallström. The film follows a young boy named Ingemar who is sent to live with his uncle and his family in a small town in Sweden while his mother is ill. The film explores themes of childhood, loss, and coming of age as Ingemar learns to cope with the challenges of his new life.

Lets face it, no one finds much humor in the subject of cancer. But it is all too common. Most of us know someone affected by it and adding a bit of humor to the stress and strain will help lighten up an otherwise somber situation. Seth Rogan is Kyle, the best friend of Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who has been diagnosed with the big C. Kyle is one of those guys who keeps everybody laughing with his broad sense of humor and that's just what Adam needs about now. Anjelica Huston plays Adam's mother. She is one of those moms that dote on their adult children, especially those with a fatal illness. She tries to help but ends up seeming overbearing. Katie is Adam's doctor (played by Anna Kendrick) and is a doc everyone would love to have, especially when they are dying. The entire cast works well together in this comedy drama that sees a victim appreciating what time he has and his friends who truly care about him. Nothing maudlin here, just a good movie that's well written and acted.

Paul Rudd (I Love You, Man, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) is one funny guy when he puts on his "everyman" persona and displays how oblivious he can be to his surroundings. Rudd plays the Idiot Brother, Ned who is playful and as adorable as a stray puppy. He also has lost many of the neurons in his brain due to the fact he's been a "stoner" most of his life. His three sisters decide to help him out when he is released from jail. Ned's best buddy and the one who understands him best is his dog, Willie Nelson.his script was written for Rudd and fits him like a glove especially due to his comedic timing which is spot on. While he gets help from his sisters he is somewhat of a guardian angel for them as well, helping them fight off harmful demons of their own. Zooey Deschanel (Yes Man, Gigantic) is his sister Natalie, Elizabeth Banks (Modern Family, Scrubs) is another sister Miranda, and Emily Mortimer (Shutter Island, Cars2) is the third sister, Liz. The viewing audience can see what's ahead for poor Ned so tension builds as he bumbles his way into troublesome scenarios.
