Based on true to life events, The Texas Killing Fields are found near a small town in Texas. Mike Sounder, local homicide detective, along with his partner Brian Heigh, a transplant from the NYPD, go about their business of solving the murders of several local women. Seems their mutilated bodies keep popping up in nearby marshy waters after their killer dumps them off, like trash.nce the detectives are hot on the trail of a suspect they suddenly find the tables turned and the killer apparently after them. Southeast Texas was the location for some grizzly murders along Interstate 45 which inspired a book when then inspired this movie with a top quality cast.am Worthington (Terminator Salvation, Avatar) is Detective Michael "Mike" Sounder, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen, The Accidental Husband) is New York City detective transplanted to Texas, Brian Heigh, and Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life, Jolene) portrays Pam Stall, a detective who works along side the Texas cops who work diligently to track down the killer before he strikes again.

A murder ring, consisting of four Southern Australian men, were convicted of murdering at least twelve people between 1991 and 1999. They used knives, rope, as well as a double barreled shotgun to kill then sawed some bodies up, stuffed them into barrels and added acid to dissolve the evidence. It's difficult to imagine a more heinous group of humans who tortured and then killed others for their social security and pension money or simply because they didn't like their way of life. Some of the victims were apparently gay or obese or even drug users and were known by their murderers. Most of the bodies were stored in an old bank building in Snowtown and a few more were found buried in a Salibury North backyard. Also Mark Ray Haydon, who helped dispose of the bodies and James Spyridon Vlassakis who, along with his half brother and his mother, were found guilty of torturing and murdering several of the victims. The film is made even more gruesome by the fact it is based on fact!
