Al Jazeera English, which means "The Island" in Arabic, is a worldwide news television network, which owned and operated by Qatar Media Corporation. English version of Al Jazeera is available via satellite and in the Internet as Al Jazeera Live. You can watch Al Jazeera Live in English on OnlineTVcast airing 24 hours a day in English. Al Jazeera TV channel begins its history from 1995. The channel initially was funded by Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa with USD137 million loan, which breathed life into the network. Now Al Jazeera seeks for other ways of financing such as subsidies and grants to maintain its editorial policy independent as far as it possible. Although Al Jazeera is treated as a trustworthy source of unbiased information by many Arabian people, the channel faces international criticism based on the idea that the Qatar government manipulates Al-Jazeera coverage to suit political interests. Al Jazeera's videos of masked terrorists beheading western hostages in Iraq raised criticism and controversy about the channel editorial policy. But, despite all the contradictions Al Jazeera stays the most watched international Arabic channel in the world competing BBC in worldwide audiences with an estimated 40 to 50 million viewers. Everywoman an inspiring TV series for Middle East women, hosted by Shiulie Ghosh; The Fabulous Picture Show, an Amanda Palmer's movies reviews program; Frost Over The World, an interview program with Sir David Frost and his guests; Fault Lines, an unbiased coverage of USA foreign policy with Avi Lewis and Josh Rushing. Inside Iraq a Jasim Al-Azzawi's talk show covering major issues of modern Iraq in Jasim's debates with invited guests. Inside Story, an analytical program observing day's top stories; Listening Post, a Richard Gizbert's weekly reviews of viewers' submitted stories. People & Power, a biweekly program with Samah El-Shahat, Juliana Ruhfus and Sapna Bhatia about world globalization processes in the 21st century.
