Toxic Town is a four-part British drama miniseries created by writer Jack Thorne and directed by Minkie Spiro, based on one of the United Kingdom's most significant environmental scandals. Set in the former steel town of Corby, it follows a group of mothers who come to realize that a shocking cluster of children born with limb differences may be linked to the way toxic waste was handled during the reclamation of the town's old steelworks. What begins as private grief becomes a collective fight for accountability.
Jodie Whittaker leads the cast as Susan McIntyre, one of the mothers who refuses to stay silent, alongside Aimee Lou Wood, Claudia Jessie, Robert Carlyle, Rory Kinnear, and Brendan Coyle. The series charts the families' long, exhausting battle to be believed — by officials, by the courts, and by a system inclined to look away — building to a landmark legal reckoning that would set a precedent in British environmental law.
Released globally on Netflix in early 2025, Toxic Town was praised for its righteous anger and its grounded, deeply human performances, drawing comparisons to other true-story dramas about ordinary people confronting powerful institutions. It streams on Netflix.

Undoubtfully, cinematography has been my passion since a very young age. Even now, watching a new movie or series always prompts me to ask a lot of questions to the author. Thus, every little essay about a title is definitely not a spoiler, but rather an attempt to explore the idea.
