The Savant

The Savant is an Apple TV+ thriller starring and executive produced by Jessica Chastain, inspired by a true story first reported in a ProPublica investigation. Chastain plays a woman known by the code name "the Savant," who works undercover inside online extremist communities, posing as a sympathizer in order to identify individuals plotting acts of violence and stop them before they can act. Operating largely in secret, she navigates a shadowy world where a single misstep could expose her.

Created by Melissa James Gibson, the eight-part series builds its tension around the psychological toll of the Savant's double life — the strain of immersing herself in hateful rhetoric while protecting her own family and identity. Originally scheduled for a 2025 premiere, The Savant was postponed by Apple amid heightened public concern over political violence, before finally arriving in the summer of 2026.
