The series is executive produced by Ridley Scott through his Scott Free banner, lending the maths-driven thriller the backing of one of Hollywood's most storied filmmakers.
Lead Leo Woodall came to the project fresh off breakout turns in The White Lotus and the Netflix adaptation of One Day, and Prime Target marked his first time anchoring a series of his own.
To sell its globe-trotting conspiracy, the production filmed across five countries, using locations in the United Kingdom and farther afield to stage Edward's flight from the forces hunting his research.

Prime Target is a globe-trotting conspiracy thriller created by Steve Thompson for Apple TV+, executive produced by Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions. It spins an unusually cerebral premise, the hidden power locked inside prime numbers, into a propulsive chase across Europe and beyond.
Leo Woodall stars as Edward Brooks, a brilliant young Cambridge mathematics postgraduate on the verge of a breakthrough about patterns in prime numbers, work that could unlock the encryption underpinning every secure system on earth. When people connected to his research start dying, Edward realizes his discovery has made him a target and is forced into an uneasy alliance with Taylah Sanders (Quintessa Swindell), an intelligence agent assigned to watch him. Sidse Babett Knudsen, David Morrissey, and Stephen Rea feature among the shadowy academics and operatives drawn to Edward's dangerous gift.
Premiering in January 2025, the eight-episode series was mounted as a sleek international thriller, shot across multiple countries, and offered a showcase for Woodall following his breakout in The White Lotus and One Day. Reviews were mixed, with critics admiring its glossy ambition even where they found the conspiracy mechanics familiar. It is streaming on Apple TV+.
