The Scribner authors who rose to 1930s and 1940s prominence under Max Perkins's skilled tutelage understood the best way to change the world is to represent it precisely--in minute detail and in all its grim, unforgiving, and frightening ugliness. MTV's "16 and Pregnant" brings the same principle to television, accurately and unblinkingly showing the lives of four expectant teen-agers, mercilessly exploiting every ugly stereotype of life on the perilous edge of poverty and powerlessness. The New York Times suggests, "The implicit message at the center of ["16 and Pregnant's] class prejudice tells us that if you're not setting out for Berkeley or Wesleyan, then raising a child when you ought to be working on the yearbook is as good a road to character development as any." The Times unfortunately mistakes power and poignancy for "prejudice." After viewing even one episode of "16 and Pregnant," any observant sophomore will make a headlong dash for Planned Parenthood, the glee club, and an SAT prep course.

Filling an empty niche of modern TV, Chicago Fire colorfully depicts working days of Chicago Fire Department consisting of Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61 and 25th Battalion. The TV show was developed by Dick Wolf, a man standing behind Law & Order and Community TV shows, who definitely knows how to produce a successful television products and turn them into the series of spin-offs. So, we may easily expect NY Fire, LA Fire and San Francisco Fire in the nearest future. The show features dramatic storyline, the action begins just after the loss of the man during the recent fire accident, and everyone in the crew rebuke others for this loss. Nevertheless, the life continues, as every working day challenges them and their leader, a veteran to gather all the will and strength to perform their duty better the rivals, a Rescue Squad. Chicago Fire concept looks to be very easy replicated and in case of success, the TV show will turn its cast to well known actors (as it happened to Law and Order Cast). So the bright future is almost here for Jesse Spencer (Dr. Robert Chase - "House M.D."), Taylor Kinney (Mason Lockwood - "The Vampire Diaries") and Monica Raymund (Dana Lodge "“ "The Good Wife").

Anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer knows there is little funny about the subject. And to be a young suburban housewife and a mother as well is, well let's say downright depressing to talk about such a burden. But Cathy Jamison manages to bring a lighter aspect to the Big C even as she deals with her immature husband. Laura Linney (Mystic River, Love Actually) plays Catherine Jamison who is a high school teacher diagnosed with melanoma. Not one to simply lie down and die Cathy infuses plenty of humor, sometimes dark humor, into her life and bolsters her family's outlook as well. Her husband Paul, played by Oliver Platt (Year One, Frost/Nixon) apparently has a child like vision of his life and approaches the situation with his wife as if it simply does not exist. Cathy also has a son and a brother with whom she tries to improve relationships with, not knowing if she will be around much longer. Humor is found in the rocky relationships between family and friends who handle her serious illness in different manners and the last thing Cathy needs is squabbling relatives when she has her own worries. It's all handled with a lightness that the writers find even in trying times.

Longmire storyline is loosely based on Craig Johnson's novels about old fashioned Sheriff of Absroka, Wyoming County. He widowed only a year ago and still hides his soul's pain underneath the unassuming grin and impassive face. He wears a true to type cowboy hat, leather boots and holstered gun. All these attributes makes him looking similar to Raylan Gyvens (Justified). But Longmire personality features quite different traits. But in opposite of brave, but somewhat reckless Raylan, he is much wiser, seasoned and experienced. He is accompanied by Victoria "Vic" Moretti, an ex-cop from Philadelphia Homicide Department, played by Katee Sackhoff. You may know her by roles in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Battlestar Galactica and Sexy Evil Genius (as Nikki Franklyn). The main intrigue about her is how the proficient Philly policewoman have stuck in the middle of the Wyoming boondocks. The next intrigue unfolds in the pilot episode, a murder which traced back to "The Res", an Indian reservation where white men's legislation have nothing to do with Indian traditions and laws. The third intrigue revolves around the person of Deputy Branch Connally who appears to represent the "shady" forces of Longmire's team.

Snowfall is a TV series set in the 1980s during the crack epidemic in Los Angeles. The story follows the rise of Franklin Saint, a young street entrepreneur, as he navigates the dangerous and violent world of drug trafficking. Alongside Franklin, the show explores the lives of other characters, including a CIA agent, a Mexican wrestler, and a reporter, all of whom are affected by the growing drug problem in the city.

More old-fashioned gumshoe than techie whiz-kid, Willows nevertheless guides her hyper-dedicated team with skill, style, and love. No more sophisticated than any other television crime drama, "CSI" nevertheless has owned its time slot since its debut, because its characters combine street-savvy toughness with genuine likability. And who can resist all those cool shots of bullets blasting through brain matter? Trivia devotees will note that songstress Taylor Swift made her critically acclaimed acting debut on "CSI," playing the a dark, troubled, and ultimately dead "goth" girl in search of love and understanding"”in other words, the diametric opposite of her authentic self.
