Lanterns is an eight-episode DC Studios drama that premiered on HBO and HBO Max on August 16, 2026, with episodes released weekly. Aaron Pierre plays new Green Lantern recruit John Stewart, who is paired with veteran Lantern Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler. Their investigation into a murder in the American heartland pulls the two intergalactic officers into a dark, Earth-based mystery with cosmic ties. The ensemble also includes Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Laura Linney, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion, J. Alphonse Nicholson and Jasmine Cephas Jones. Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King co-created the series and co-wrote the pilot, with Mundy serving as showrunner. James Hawes directed the first two episodes; Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel and Alik Sakharov also directed. HBO produced the series with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, based on DC’s Green Lantern characters. James Gunn and Peter Safran are among the executive producers, linking the detective story to their unified DC Universe.

As a sequel to the popular Spartacus: Blood and Sand, we find Spartacus: Vengeance is more about how and why he became a gladiator. Determined to free the slaves owned by the Roman Republic, the Romans need to stop Spartacus before he does them more damage. And now Spartacus, himself a former Thracian slave, has a huge decision to make which is whether to help free the slaves or seek vengeance on those who condemned his own wife into slavery then death. Starring as Spartacus is Liam McIntyre from Neighbours and The Pacific, Peter Mensah (Avatar, Tears of the Sun) is trusted friend and former trainer of gladiators Oenomaus, Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess, Battlestar Galactica) is Lucretia Batiatus, widow of Quintus Batiatus who now hold a gift known as prophecy, and Dan Feuerriegel (Australian TV's McLeod's Daughters, Stupid Stupid Man) playing the part of Agron, German gladiator who was the first to join up with Spartacus and his revolt. Others in the cast include Manu Bennett as Crixus, Viva Bianca as Ilithyia, and as Gaius Claudius Glaber, Craig Parker. It's rousing and entertaining while not especially true to history.

The Pacific

Stephen Spielberg and Tom Hanks already had saved Private Ryan and had shown the relatively tame exploits of a brotherly band in the Pacific Theater when they bravely took-on the challenge of recreating the bitter, brutal battles that made Pacific Islands household names in the darkest hours of World War II. Most Americans can trace the broad outlines of the Allies' liberation of Europe, but few can recall the highlights of American Marines' fierce struggles over "tiny specks of earth that we have never heard of." HBO's ten-part mini-series, "The Pacific," retrieves the war against Japan from the threshold of obscurity. Based on survivors' accounts of the battles, and rendered as vividly as the small screen will allow, "The Pacific" tracks three Marines' odysseys from Guadalcanal through Cape Gloucester to Peleliu and ultimately to the epic battle for Iwo Jima. Testifying to "The Pacific's" intense realism, the mini-series collected Emmy Awards for Art Direction, visual and sound effects. More amply testifying to "The Pacific's" overwhelming genius and power, however, the Television Academy awarded it the 2010 Emmy for Outstanding Mini-Series.

Man vs Wild

Bear Grylls is host and also the one who gets unceremoniously dropped off into various situations each week and has to survive by using his wits and bare hands for the most part. He will actually do a "fly over" and check out the terrain he will be faces with and a crew spends about a week checking over the situation to determine what he has to expect. As with any "reality" program there is at least one each camera person and sound engineer or we (the viewing audience) would see and hear nothing. The situations may include attacks by alligators or falling into quick sand. He may parachute from a helicopter, run through forest fires, drink fecal liquids, even eat deer drippings, whatever it takes to simply survive! Bear may even need to construct a raft to ford rivers and must know the basics of survival without a restaurant nearby. Special guest stars pop in occasionally, including Will Ferrell (Blades of Glory, Land of the Lost) and Jake Gyllendhaal (Brothers, Love and Other Drugs).

Vikings is a historical drama television series that tells the story of the legendary Norse hero, Ragnar Lothbrok, and his family. The series is inspired by the sagas of Viking Ragnar Lothbrok, who is known for his raids on England and France. The show focuses on the adventures of Ragnar and his family, as they navigate the politics and warfare of medieval Scandinavia.

It all begins when thirteen individual teams consisting of three competitors each race across the deserts and mountains and even through the rivers in Morocco, each with the hope of winning a new Ford Explorer plus $50,000 in U.S. dollars. Mark Burnett of Survivor fame is the producer and a wildlife expert named Dave Salmoni hosts each episode as they go through stages with checkpoints to be reached first. Some of these checkpoints include a challenge that needs to be finished before the teams can move on to the next. The last team to reach the last checkpoint loses and must leave the show. Also if any member on a team decides to give up or quit, the team is eliminated. Trekking through the hot Sahara Desert then over Atlas Mountains of Northern Africa is no easy feat, especially when there so many other dedicated competitors involved. They must show their ability to ride horses, read compasses, rappel the mountains, and right a capsized boat capably and forge on to win the race.
