Duster marks a return to creating a television series for J.J. Abrams, and he developed it with LaToya Morgan, a writer-producer known for her work on The Walking Dead and Snowfall, blending his gift for propulsive genre hooks with her feel for period and character.
The series reunited Abrams with Josh Holloway, whom he helped make a star as Sawyer on Lost, and the role of a wisecracking, morally flexible getaway driver plays directly to the rakish charm that made that character a fan favorite.

The uneasy alliance between the fast-talking wheelman and the principled, underestimated agent forms the spine of the show, which mixes propulsive car chases and heist mechanics with a period-accurate portrait of a country in transition. Its bright, kinetic style signals that the series is out to entertain first and foremost.
Premiering on HBO Max in May 2025, Duster earned solid reviews for its retro energy, its charismatic lead performances, and its throwback commitment to practical car stunts.
