DMZ is a miniseries based on the comic book of the same name, created by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli. The show is set in a near-future America, where a second civil war has torn the country apart. Manhattan has become a demilitarized zone (DMZ) between the two sides, with the government and rebels fighting for control of the island.

The main character of the series is a photojournalist named Matty Roth, who finds himself trapped in the DMZ after his helicopter crashes on the island. As he tries to survive and make his way out of the DMZ, Matty becomes a witness to the daily struggles and violence of the people caught in the middle of the conflict. He also becomes involved with various factions vying for power, including a charismatic rebel leader and a corrupt government official.

DMZ explores themes of political and social division, power struggles, and the effects of war on ordinary people. The show presents a stark vision of a future America where the country has become deeply divided, and violence and chaos reign. Despite its dystopian setting, the series also offers moments of hope and humanity, as Matty and other characters work to make a difference and bring about change in their world.

The Hills

Once upon a time MTV was all about music videos but ever since they began producing their own television series like The Hills they have evolved into a powerhouse in TV entertainment. The Hills is about the lives and ongoing happenings for several young women who reside in Los Angeles, California. Lauren, a young woman striving for her own independence, moves to LA with best friend Heidi and meet up with Audrina. Lauren interns with Teen Vogue, a teen magazine and becomes interested in the fashion industry. When her ex-boyfriend follows Lauren to LA they decide to get back together, which complicates her life. This show has the "reality TV" formula that is popular and gained The Hills some high accolades from the entertainment industry and spawned quite a few copy cat programs. While the young women have their romantic partners each is trying to make it and become successful, especially in the magazine and fashion industries that drew them to LA in the first place. As this is a show based on reality it's sometimes difficult to determine where reality leaves off and drama simply takes over. Still The Hills is fun to watch each week.

FlashForward

It was good while it lasted. Launched with much fanfare and intense audience interest, "FlashForward" brilliantly recreated the mysterious, fascinating, are-they-prophetic? two minutes and seventeen seconds on October 6, 2009, when almost everyone on Earth lost consciousness of their ordinary surroundings and caught glimpses of their lives on April 29, 2010. An ambitious attempt at transposing Robert J. Sawyer's "high-concept" novel from the printed page to the small screen, "FlashForward" focused on the team of FBI investigators charged with determining what had happened. One of the FBI agents enjoyed the special privilege of seeing his team crack the case in his vision of the future; all he has to do is recreate the six months of investigative work that yield the break-through. Meanwhile, the principal characters attempt to cope with the consequences of their visions for their lives in the present, because they have seen broken marriages, lives lost, and great portrayals on their horizons. Most viewers and critics sadly agreed "FlashForward" unfortunately juxtaposed a brilliant high-tech crime drama on some pathetically ordinary people and lives.

Ray Donovan

"Ray Donovan" is an American television crime drama series that aired from 2013 to 2020. The show centers around the titular character, Ray Donovan, who works as a professional "fixer" for the rich and famous in Los Angeles. Ray's job is to make their problems disappear, whether it be covering up a scandal or silencing a witness. However, his own troubled past and complicated family dynamics often get in the way of his work and personal life.
