The Roommate's premise seems simple enough, and in light of Virginia Tech and elsewhere, maybe even plausible. The studio says The Roommate is, ""A psychological thriller about a deranged college freshman who becomes obsessed with her new roommate." If the girls take Psych 101, they may learn "deranged" is not appropriate clinical vocabulary for a girl who systematically and deliberately murders all of her roommate's friends and loved ones. To their credit, Leighton Meister who plays Rebecca, first-year serial killer, and Minka Kelly, who plays Sara, unwilling object of obsession, rise above primitive writing and production values that fall far short of the balance between sex and fear, redeeming the movie as much as any two gifted girls might. The Roommate may be more valuable as a promotional piece for Los Angeles Loyola Marymount University; and, over time, the film may be far notable as a showcase for 2011 college fashions than for its riveting representations of paranoid schizophrenia. Will those nasty blood stains wash out of that adorable Abercrombie skirt?

Previously named The Better Pills, Side Effects isn't the first Steven Soderbergh's movie project in the field of "applied psychotechnics", just remember his We Need to Talk About Kevin and Playground; neither for Rooney Mara who plays the leading role in Side Effects, her remarkable roles in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Social Network have showed a great potential of this brilliant actress. The rest of the cast ensemble is awesome too: Channing Tatum, Vinessa Shaw, Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones, David Costabile and Mamie Gummer – not every movie can boast such a set of great actors gathered in single project.

He feels self-confident enough to convince her to let him left the money for himself, but very soon he realizes the futility of his life when he meets lonesome mother struggling for more significant needs than he could even imagine. The film was directed by Alex Kurtzman, who is better known as producer of action-packed movies like Star Trek and Cowboys & Aliens. People Like Us is his debut as director, and it's essential that this movie is a low budgeted one. However, it does not mean that something is wrong with this film. Awesome directional skills of Kurtzman multiplied on perfect assembly of cast and heart-touching screenplay (co-written by Alex too) resulted in must-see masterpiece equally standing among his other works as producer like Transformers Prime, Exit Strategy, Exit Strategy, Hawaii Five-0, Fringe. But, let's go back to the cast: beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer (Dark Shadows, Stardust) as Lillian is accompanied by Elizabeth Banks and charming Olivia Wilde (In Time, Tron: Legacy) as Hanna. The "downshifting" salesman is portrayed by Chris Pine, who is well known for his roles in latest Star Treks and very funny dramcom This Means War.
