The Phoenician Scheme

Description

Wes Anderson's The Phoenician Scheme is the director at his most extravagantly conceived: an elaborate ensemble piece following a dying arms dealer named Zsa-zsa (Benicio del Toro) who summons his various children and associates to a series of increasingly eccentric meetings in an attempt to set his affairs in order. With an A-list cast that includes Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Wright, and Mia Threapleton, the film is a symphony of Anderson's signature aesthetic concerns — symmetrical compositions, deadpan delivery, and meticulous production design elevated to almost satirical heights.

The screenplay, co-written with Roman Coppola, takes the form of a series of nested stories and theatrical scenes, each episode moving to a different European location rendered in Anderson's characteristic palette of mustards, teals, and deep reds. The film is ostensibly a comedy about family dysfunction and the moral complications of inherited wealth, but Anderson's true subject — as always — is the performance of identity, and the way people use elaborate rituals and costumes to manage the grief of living.

The Phoenician Scheme wears its ambition openly and revels in its own artifice in ways that will delight Anderson's devoted audience. It is also one of his most emotionally substantial films, with del Toro delivering a genuinely moving performance beneath all the whimsy. For those already attuned to Anderson's singular frequency, the film offers moments of startling beauty and genuine feeling. Anderson's eleventh feature film premiered at Cannes to strong reviews.

If you ever thought that Scary Movie 5 is just a sequel of Scary Movie franchise, you may be wrong. Scary Movie 5 is more than a sequel, it's a more likely a reboot. Consider this: new director Malcolm D. Lee (Soul Men, Roll Bounce, Undercover Brother) and new writer, an iconic David Zucker (The Naked Gun, Airplane! – say "Hello!" to 80s' ). To complete the picture there is no less weird cast. Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen stars as themselves while Ashley Tisdale and Simon Rex play main characters Jody and Den, a young married couple in the center of paranormal activity occurring around them. All you need to know about Ashley Tisdale is that she previously starred mostly in TV series: Phineas and Ferb, Hellcats, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Kim Possible and Still Standing. As for Simon Rex his filmography sounds more "impressing" besides Scary Movie 4 and 3 he played Rise, Hotel California Pledge This! and King of the Avenue. So, what about the plot, you may ask. There is no surprise, since "lost footage" and "home surveillance-cameras" styled filming became popular, Scary Movie 5 must be done in the similar way. The story begins when Den and Jody move in their new house with a newborn baby. Strange and frightening things begin to happen in the first night of their staying. Not being able to solve the problem, the couple decides to ask professionals for help. The professionals, personalized in Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen arrive and … you may only imagine what a bizarre begins.
