Revival of predation franchise, announced by Robert Rodriguez, featuring in The Losers as a writer and producer, became not so spectacular as it was waiting for. For the movie directed by Nimrod Antal we are expecting something more than running through the woods in the style of "Rambo: First Blood" and in a spirit of divination "who will die next." The maximum that allowed himself to Rodriguez is sadly growing number of corpses, a little red and green blood and uncertain statement that predators are the people themselves, supported by a quote from Hemingway. Statement by the way, in this case, is little bit controversial, since a good half of the time most of the earthlings saves and covers each other: like in the best tradition of some honest and not always exciting team play.

The third part of the saga about the elusive "avenger" attacked viewers from all the sides by the action could be comparable with Doug Lyman's one only. But in something The Bourne Ultimatum has overtaken him, for example, in suspense. It's not so surprising, taking into account the fact that director Paul Greengrass, this time take into account his mistakes make in the last movie. Nicholas Cage proves his special gift for keeping the paychecks coming, teaming up with the director of My Bloody Valentine for Drive Angry 3D, due in theaters early in February, 2011. The promotional materials seem a little ambivalent or ambiguous about the film's supernatural element: Cage supposedly has escaped from Hell to avenge his daughter's murder and rescue his infant grand-daughter from sacrifice at the hands of a devil-worshipping cult. Of course, "The Accountant," one of Satan's executive demons, pursues Cage as he drives angrily across a hostile landscape in hot pursuit of bad guys and redemption. Many of the synopses omit the demonic content, perhaps because it has very little impact on the characters, situations, or plot. Three classic American muscle cars actually star in Drive Angry 3D, exuding at least as much sex appeal as Charlotte Ross, who delivers a soon-to-be-legendary sex-and-violence vignette between Cage's angry driving sequences. What's not to love about a 1964 Buick Riviera, a 1969 Dodge Charger, and a 1971 Chevy Malibu all muscled-up and chromed for the occasion? Regardless of critics' and audiences' reaction to Drive Angry 3D, film historians may use the film as compelling evidence in support of their argument 3D definitely makes a film's imagery more vivid but does not automatically improve its content or redeem it as a work of art.

Jason Statham stars as Arthur Bishop, "mechanic" supreme. Of course, "mechanic" is bad-guy talk for the professional assassin who comes to fix your problem and generally tune-up your operation by striking terror into the hearts of your bad-guy rivals. The Mechanic, then, implies that in a world full of amateurish shooters, Arthur Bishop stands out as the consummate professional. In fact, Bishop lives and works by a strict code—precise, detached, professional, and perfectionist; in other words, Bishop delivers all the qualities anyone could wish or want in a fine mechanic."Donald Sutherland plays Harry, Bishop's friend and mentor; and then he dies. Assassinated. Not surprisingly, Bishop feels compelled and honor bound to avenge Harry's murder; but in all of his careful calculations, Bishop fails to factor-in Steve, Harry's son, who shares Bishop's desire for revenge and who brings beginner's enthusiasm to the business of learning his father's business. Of course, sinister stealth, insidious machinations, and high explosives complicate the would-be assassins' quest; and, as the promos proclaim, "those hired to fix problems become problems themselves." The Mechanic would qualify for your list of "standard guy stuff," except that it has a liberal dose of heart.
