Could you imagine that Oz: The Great and Powerful, which is loosely based in L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was planned to be filmed by Disney since 1937? The rights for this movie was sold and resold for many times before, finally, Walt Disney Production acquired them and signed a contract with Sam Raimi to direct the film. Disney's series of decisions to reduce the filming costs had lead to unsuccessful negotiations with Robert Downey, Jr. and Johnny Depp for the leading role of Oscar Diggs/Oz, till, finally, James Franco was chosen for the role. You may remember him as Will Rodman form Rise of the Planet of the Apes. As the movie is the prequel for the core story The Wizard of Oz, there are no lovely Dorothy Gale, instead we have three witches. The Wicked Witch of the West, Theodora is portrayed by Mila Kunis which recently has had leading roles in Hell & Back and Friends with Benefits). Evanora The Wicked Witch of the East and the Ruler of the Munchkin Country is played by Rachel Weisz (The Bourne Legacy, To the Wonder); she inferiors in power of magic with Glinda the Good Witch of the South which is most powerful sorceress of Oz and is the ruler of the Quadling Country. In Disney's version of Oz: The Great and Powerful, Glinda is portrayed by Michelle Williams, which was quite smart decision, taking in consideration the amazing performance of Michelle Williams in My Week with Marilyn as Marilyn Monroe.

Some futuristic story ideas seem to paint a rather bleak picture of how life may be later on and The Hunger Games is right up there with the premise that we could hold lotteries each year to select competitors from youngsters. Seems that North America has become a divided country and now there is only the Capitol which is broken down into 12 districts. Now called Panem, the former United States of America makes many crucial decisions by way of an annual fight to the death. There will be two from each of the 12 districts so the total of 24 participants must fight each other to the death and the citizens find this required viewing on live television!hen 16 year old Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence from Medium, The Bill Engvall Show) volunteers to take her younger sisters place, she and Peeta Mellark, who is her counterpart find they are up against far bigger and stronger competitors who have been trained for this type of battle all of their lives. Peeta is played by Josh Hutcherson (RV, The Kids Are All Right). Look for Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, and Donald Sutherland also in The Hunger Games.

The idea of Machete movie about an assassin, who was screwed by his clients, came to Rodriguez and Tarantino in 90th. But Rodriguez has decided to implement it only after the "Grindhouse" movie in which, as an announcement of future film premieres, was shown the movie trailer "Machete", a non-existent at that time, even as the project. So, Rodriguez called the same Danny Trejo and here it is: the big-nosed Indian kills everybody on his way. Violent crime wars have achieved their apogee, when the new drug named SLO-MO was invented. This new dope heavily alters reality slowing everything around you in ten times. After taking a doze you can even notice slow motion of particles of smoke vibrating in the fume of your cigar. This happens because your mind and perception accelerates and runs in ten times faster making everything in front of you moving slowly, that's why the stuff was named SLO-MO. The woman standing behind the invention and distributing the drug, Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) is going to take control over the entire Mega-City One making the whole its population addicted to her new invention. In this near the state of war situation, two cops (or how they are called in future, Judges) one veteran Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) and one newbie Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) tries to stop Ma-Ma before her dream to gain the control over the city population will come true. In post-apocalyptic future, where traditional principles of judgment are forceless, Judges are endowed with the power to capture, arrest, judge and execute any criminal they encounter. Sometimes all these actions take no more than a second between arrest and execution.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 is the sequel to the first solo movie from X-Men. It is a comic book love story that once again stars Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. However, this time Wolverine will head to Japan to dig into his roots and train to become a samurai warrior. While there something unexpected happens, Wolverine falls for a Japanese girl. Only she is already married and so Wolverine finds himself at odds with both her husband and her father while he tries to win her back. X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 is definitely a darker story than the first.
