One Battle After Another

When Hollywood screenwriter David Sumner (James Marsden of Superman Returns, Death at a Funeral) and his wife return to her hometown they find tensions are high due to the locals who are threatening the new couple's presence. Amy Sumner (Kate Bosworth from Beyond the Sea, Superman Returns) is David's wife and comes from this Deep South Mississippi community so it makes sense that they would make the trip to this peaceful area to relax while he finishes a screenplay. The two of them soon learn this adventure is all about survival.lexander Skarsgard (Generation Kill) plays Amy's old boyfriend and he definitely wants to get her attention. Other talented cast members include James Woods, Dominic Purcell, Willa Holland, and Laz Alonso. The locals do not like intruders and even though Amy is from this sleepy little town she is no longer welcome, and neither is her "big city" husband. This film proves that a violent movie can definitely be remade and be even more violent and scary than the first.

Everly is a 2014 action thriller directed by Joe Lynch, starring Salma Hayek as the titular character. Everly is a prostitute working for the crime lord Taiko (Hiroyuki Watanabe), working secretly to bring down his organization with the help of the police. While trapped inside her apartment, Everly faces off with hired killers and even other prostitutes who have been promised a bounty if they are able to kill her. The film features music by Bear McCreary, who did the soundtrack for the rebooted version of the Battlestar Galactica television series. Lynch originally wrote the story while listening to the soundtrack for the second season of the show. Early reviews of the film have been mixed to positive, and compared to the early Die Hard movies or the blood-spattered epic of Kill Bill. The film plays toward assassin and mafia tropes and offers little in the way of plot, but plenty in the way of action.
