The Rainmaker

The Rainmaker is a legal drama developed by Michael Seitzman and Jason Richman, adapting John Grisham's 1995 bestseller for USA Network. A fresh take on a story previously brought to the screen by Francis Ford Coppola in 1997, it repackages Grisham's David-and-Goliath courtroom saga as a serialized television thriller.

Milo Callaghan stars as Rudy Baylor, an idealistic young lawyer who is fired from a prestigious firm and lands at a scrappy personal-injury practice, where he takes on a wrongful-death suit against a powerful hospital and uncovers a chain of suspicious deaths. John Slattery, Lana Parrilla, Madison Iseman, and P.J. Byrne co-star in a case that grows into something far more sinister than a simple malpractice claim.

Premiering in August 2025, the series drew mixed reviews — a 50% Rotten Tomatoes score — with some critics missing the novel's flavor, but its brisk plotting and courtroom hooks connected with audiences, and USA Network renewed it for a second season within weeks of its debut. It streams on Peacock.
