The Better Sister is a twisty Prime Video limited series adapted from Alafair Burke's 2019 domestic-noir novel, headlined by Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks, who also executive produce. Built around the fraught, competitive bond between two sisters, the series trades in the glossy, secret-riddled suspense that has made the modern domestic thriller a streaming staple, using a shocking murder to pry open a family's carefully maintained facade.
Biel plays Chloe, a polished, successful media executive with an enviable life, while Banks plays her estranged, harder-luck sister Nicky. The two are violently thrown back together when Chloe's husband — who happens to be Nicky's ex — is murdered, and the investigation drags long-buried secrets, old resentments, and competing versions of the truth into the light. Corey Stoll and Kim Dickens co-star in a story that keeps shifting the ground beneath the audience's assumptions about who these women really are.
While reviews were mixed on the show's later-episode twists, the pairing of Biel and Banks proved a genuine draw, and the series quickly climbed into Prime Video's most-watched charts after its release. A sleek, bingeable mystery powered by two committed lead performances, The Better Sister is streaming on Prime Video.
