Masters of the Air is a 2024 Apple TV+ war epic from executive producers Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, serving as a companion to their landmark miniseries Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Adapted from Donald L. Miller's nonfiction book, the nine-episode series dramatizes the airmen of the U.S. Eighth Air Force's 100th Bombardment Group during World War II.
Nicknamed the Bloody Hundredth for its catastrophic losses, the group flew punishing daylight bombing raids over Nazi-occupied Europe in B-17 Flying Fortresses. The series follows pilots Gale Buck Cleven (Austin Butler) and John Bucky Egan (Callum Turner), alongside an ensemble including Anthony Boyle, Barry Keoghan and Ncuti Gatwa, through combat missions, being shot down, and captivity as prisoners of war, and it also dramatizes the Tuskegee Airmen.
One of the most expensive television productions ever mounted, the series used large-scale virtual-production LED volumes to stage its harrowing aerial sequences, a technique pioneered on other blockbuster productions. It drew praise for the scale and authenticity of its combat scenes and stands as the long-awaited third chapter in one of television's most celebrated war trilogies. It streams on Apple TV+.

Undoubtfully, cinematography has been my passion since a very young age. Even now, watching a new movie or series always prompts me to ask a lot of questions to the author. Thus, every little essay about a title is definitely not a spoiler, but rather an attempt to explore the idea.
