Doctor Who (2005 revival) is the modern continuation of the BBC science-fiction adventure that first launched in 1963. It follows the Doctor, a time-travelling alien known as a Time Lord, and a changing group of companions as they use the TARDIS to reach other worlds, historical periods and possible futures. The 2005 return begins with Christopher Eccleston’s Ninth Doctor and Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler, then carries the same central character forward through regeneration and new performers. Individual episodes may work as mysteries, historical adventures, comedies or horror stories, but recurring companions and season-long threats reward watching in order. This page covers the 2005 revival rather than the original 1963–1989 run, while recognizing both as parts of one continuing franchise.
Where to watch (checked October 7, 2026): The official site lists recent episodes on BBC iPlayer in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere where available. The BBC says Disney+ will not carry the next season automatically, so future international distribution must be checked when announced.
