Since the first episode aired back on March 26 of 1973 the two central families, the Brooks and the Fosters had been butting heads in Genoa City, Wisconsin. The Brooks family, you see, are wealthy and prosperous with all the usual baggage that comes with that territory. On the other hand the Foster family remains poor and while they may not exactly pass for "trailer trash" they do manage to act like it. As the years went by however, the central characters left for various reasons so were replaced by two new "core" families, the Abbotts and the Williams. The show also went from a one half hour per day "soap" to an hour long "soap opera" in back 1980. Two of the central characters have remained, to this day, rivals and star performers. Both Katherine Chancellor and Jill Foster Abbott have been involved in many plot twists and turns over the past nearly forty years of the long running soap's history. Major story lines have included sexual relationships involving an early introduction into premarital sexual intercourse, lesbianism, incest, impotence, rape, and even breast cancer, bulimia, and alcoholism, just your basic human frailties and diseases.

With the plethora of "reality" programming seen everywhere today it is refreshing to see a show like The L Word which deals with a group of people involved with being lesbian, transgender, or who are bisexual. All the ongoing stress and controversy that must be dealt with on a daily basis plays out in and around West Hollywood, in sunny Los Angeles, California. Some powerful writing is provided by Guinevere Turner (American Psycho) and Rose Troche (Six Feet Under) and others. Starring in the L Word are some well known names such as Jennifer Beals (as Betty Porter), Pam Grier (as Kate Porter), and Laurel Holloman (as Tina Kennard). The coded language for lesbian has long been "the L Word" but today simply calling oneself a lesbian is more preferred and common for these women have "come out" proudly. This controversial show deals with same sex marriage and the desire to have a baby. Alcohol and drugs effect lives and ongoing relationships are often threatened by affairs and sexual transgender issues.

When Captain Jack Harkness came from Doctor Who and the 51st century he was a happy man. But circumstances such as the deaths of friends, his grandson, and a lover, Ianto Jones made him realize that life is short, and precious! John Barrowman (Desperate Housewives, Tonight's The Night) plays Harkness who's character jumped from the Doctor Who series over to Torchwood, and is joined by a talented cast plus interesting guest stars each episode. Harkness loves Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles from These Foolish Things, Doctor Who) even though she still lives with and has feelings for her husband, Rhys Williams (Kai Owen from Being Human, A Chorus of Disapproval). C. Thomas Howell, Wayne Knight, and Ernie Hudson have each participated with guest appearances on Torchwood: Miracle Day. When Rex Matheson (Mekhi Phifer from ER and Lie To Me) joins up as a CIA operative the plot thickens and the challenges become huge. Someone who faces lethal injection just will not die, and the rest of the world lives on as well. Jack Harkness himself is considered immortal since leaving the Torchwood Institute. What is there about that place that makes men immortal?

Snowfall is a TV series set in the 1980s during the crack epidemic in Los Angeles. The story follows the rise of Franklin Saint, a young street entrepreneur, as he navigates the dangerous and violent world of drug trafficking. Alongside Franklin, the show explores the lives of other characters, including a CIA agent, a Mexican wrestler, and a reporter, all of whom are affected by the growing drug problem in the city.

How many television shows can claim the honor of creating a new term in the English language? "Grey's Anatomy" qualified for the Oxford English Dictionary with its phrase "McDreamy," the residents' term for the hot young surgeon with whom they worked and studied. And original coinage is just the tip of the program's linguistic iceberg as it has remained arguably the best written show on television for more than five seasons. Both narrative and dialogue dazzle in every episode; accompanied by the right music, the closing sequences guarantee a good cry. Enrolled in the nation's toughest and most competitive residency, five young women doctors struggle to survive forty-eight hour shifts and the rigors of a program supervised by five famous doctors who are determined to shape them up or break them down. Cassie is a shy young girl of sixteen when she discovers she is a witch with powers yet to be discovered. She joins a Circle of witches in New Salem and finds it a competitive world indeed. Cassie is in love with a boy she meets called Adam who is Diana's boyfriend. Diana soon becomes Cassie's best friend so that complicates things a bit. And she now must deal with Faye, another witch. Their Secret Circle rules at the high school Cassie now attends and witches can be dangerous when they are angered. The Secret Circle of witches have been in power and ruling for three hundred years in New Salem and they will use their powers to do pretty much as they wish, including manipulating innocent students into doing their bidding. Can Cassie and her newfound powers of witchcraft be strong enough to lead this witches coven from danger or will they be harmed by the dark forces instigated by a few in the Secret Circle? When the evil Faye assumes power over the Circle she leads them into dangerous territory and even death for someone near to them all. And then the witch hunters arrive on the scene to complicate things even further.
