Their friends acknowledge it always has been this way: Tina Fay gets lots of headlines and personal appearances while Amy Poehler does the majority of the comic heavy lifting. The trend continues in NBC's high-powered Thursday night comedy line-up as Fay continues driving "30Rock" to the top of Nielsen's charts and Poehler brilliantly busts-out gut-busters with her new sit-com "Parks and Recreation." In much the style of "The Office," Poehler's "Parks and Recreation" TV show works the popular mockumentary format; and her character, Leslie Knope, willingly gives voice to her relentless optimism as she speaks directly into the camera. Leslie serves as the Deputy Director of the parks and recreation department in Pawnee, Indiana, where she considers herself a rising star in the local political firmament. Think of her as the female equivalent of Steve Carrell's "Office" character, prone to pretzelating the truth with observations like, "These people are members of a community that care about where they live. So what I hear when I'm being yelled at is people caring loudly at me." Professionals devoted to the sad enterprise of explaining the jokes stress that Poehler's genius lies in her ability to make an obvious ditz both funny and sympathetic rather than just plain weak. Women may not feel inspired to vote for Leslie, but they cannot help loving her.

When Rob star Rob Schneider was a regular on Saturday Night Live he stood out from the rest of the cast because he was actually funny! He moved on to star or co-star in some funny films such as Duece Bigalow: Male Gigolo, Grown Ups, and The Hot Chick yet didn't quite hit his stride until now with his own TV sitcom. Rob is newly married to the young and beautiful Maggie (Claudia Bassols of Blackout, Emulsion) who is Hispanic and has a large and extremely close family in southern California. Her parents Fernando (Cheech Marin from Up In Smoke, Next Movie) and Rosa (Diana-Marie Riva from Castle, Everybody Loves Raymond) are upset because their daughter eloped to Vegas with Rob. Meanwhile Rob has problems of his own simply because his new bride is now living in his home. He has issues with his personal "stuff" due to having OCD and had been a bachelor until recently. The show has its moments but mostly insults Mexicans every chance it gets.

Wilfred is a dog. Wilfred is a man in a dog suit. Either or both may be true but one thing for certain is the story idea and the concept just seems to work for this dark comedy. The Aussie actor Jason Gann (Rats and Cats, Kenny) is Wilfred the eponymous dog whose owner Sarah (played by Cindy Waddingham from I Love You Too and Lowdown) along with her boyfriend Adam (award winner Adam Zwar from Lowdown, The Wedding Party), who looks at Wilfred and sees him as a man who just happens to wear a dog suit. The idea came from an original and award winning short film written by Jason Gann and Adam Zwar. A very popular and AFI award winning television program in Australia which aired there in 2007 and again in 2010, Wilfred is now airing in the U.S. Editor Debbie Lee told them "Go as far as you want with it, the more bent the better" and so they did. This TV program based upon a short film has its silly moments but overall is funny and entertaining due to good acting and writing from its young stars.

"White Collar" delivers the requisite Feds and felons, but you do it a serious dis-service if you describe it as a "crime drama." No one on "White Collar" would insist "just the facts, ma'am; just the facts," because complex characters and complicated motives drive the plots and magnetize viewers. As The New York Times wisely remarks, "White Collar" complies with USA Network's higher standards for cops and robbers; it "creates a fantasy version of law enforcement in which bureaucracies don't scuttle justice, reason prevails, and brilliance ensures the best possible outcome. At one point Burke asks his office how many went to Harvard, more than half raise their hands." Matt Bomer plays Neil Caffrey, "White Collar's" resident lovable bad-guy-turned-good-guy. Caffrey, whose style and savoir faire give him legitimate claim to membership in the Rat Pack, has struck a deal with his long-time nemesis, FBI agent Peter Burke, played to perfection by Tim DeKay. Burke will release Caffrey from Federal prison long before the end of his sentence if Caffrey agrees to lend his criminal genius to the Bureau's efforts to seek-out and imprison sophisticated evil-doers. Who could resist a deal like that?

If you love animals more than people around you, then, Animal Practice is the best TV show to watch in 2012 in your case. Why? Just because every character in Animal Practice prefers to deal with dogs, monkeys, birds, whatever, than with humans. However, they (characters) are not some homogeneous substance: some of them are "inappropriate ones", some "crazy ones", some "vulgar ones" and even some "nervous ones". This entire bestiary" is headed by Dr. George Coleman, who is, probably, most colorful representative of all these "kinds". He can easily make an analogy between a dog's behavior and values of average woman's life. Initially, it seems like he is wrong, but finally all of his predictions and analogies turn to be ultimately right. The animals in Animal Practice are "inappropriate" too: a monkey who rides a mini-ambulance all the season-long (this monkey earns 12,000USD for each episode, by the way), a suicidal cat, who tries to kill itself as his owner forces it to watch he Wendy Williams Show. And of course, Dr. Coleman has his own version of events and analogies with cat owner's intimate life, which he easily explains to her, sometimes playing it unsafe.

"Whose Line Is It Anyway?" is an American improvisational comedy show that first aired in 1998. The show is based on a British version that aired in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The American version features a group of four comedians who perform comedic skits and games based on audience suggestions.
